teams playing a player that does not qualifiy

should the opposing coach call out a team that is playing a player who has not qualified to compete in that game at junior level.

Should the governing bodies pick this up and act.

to play in finals, player should have played X number of games,

Player is a late recruitment, has not played the required number of games,

Should the opposing coach "call them out"

A decent coach wouldn't play them at all.

IMO can't stop a player playing you can only put in a protest at end of game.

bnsw state/junior league rules state "player must play 40% of games to play in Finals"

If a player has not played 40% of games, should the opposing coach "call them out" in the finals , or should the controlling body control who is on the score sheet?

Knowingly playing an unqualified player to improve chances in finals is cheating and should be dealt with.

The 40% rule is hard to check unless you have access to the score sheets. SportingPulse can't be relied on to have player names against teams correct.

In the end at junior level we all trust that the coaches, managers and club officials play by the rules AND the spirit of the game. If some team pulls a swifty for finals and they are caught out then there should be some penalty.

It might be appropriate for a harsh penalty. If it is found out after or during a final then the club/team at fault should be stripped of any results for the season and finals and probably be banned from playing in that age group/division the following year. Perhaps even banned from Junior State Champs. This would work at D1 and D2 levels as that is where sheep stations are at risk.

It might come down to who is penalised. Coach (who knowingly cheats?), Manager (who is usually a parent who volunteers)? Club Junior Director? President? Player? Parent? the entire club?

What/whoever is penalised it comes down to avoiding those practices in the future and ultimately comes down to good association and individual club governance.

What utter rubbish. If you are suggesting that you are CHEATING by playing a player who cant play in the finals you are utterly delusional.
Lets hope you have no involvement at any official level of basketball.

LOL several years ago - saw an ABL player play a lower div under some dodgy name. mentioned it to the other coach and they couldn't have cared less.

you can theorize all you like but the rules are 40% or comp committee dispensation.

Stacking teams to make finals has gone on for years and within the rules - so live with it.

Played a team one year that brought players down to our grade every time we played them in a 1 v 2 match up (and they won) - nothing we could do bout that.

BNSW issue a list prior to finals every season of all players that are eligible to play. It's pretty simple really and the coach doesn't need to "call them out". If an ineligible player's name appears on the scoresheet the team will forfeit the game

are you saying BNSW will not have any player on the score sheet who has not met the their 40% game rule. for the junior finals.

That should be the case #145
Not saying they can't be on a scoresheet ( If a club is stupid enough to do it)
But if they are and they're ineligible then they should be caught out

Does playing mean taking the court, or do DNP's count as 'playing' because you sat on the bench all game?

So petty.....how about just beat the team in front of you and not obsess over technicalities like this.

So if a NBL team were to suit up 3 NBA player after sneaking into finals, that's all good...

I've seen it happen, the coach complained and the offending team was kicked out of the finals, from then on every team hated on the team that complained.
