A three year deal at age 32 is a club showing a lot of faith.

Depends on the deal handed out. May pay dividends in terms of culture and off court leadership as well.

they seem hell bent on 3 year deals for some players, maybe scared to lose them to expansion.

Did they take less per year but with longer term security as the trade off??
Leave more in the salary cap/budget for other players each year.
Could help with retaining guys like Wilbekin or attracting top imports/players.
Would that be the thinking?

Could be points-cap related. Or just a 2+1 which is often headlined as three.

Great to see teams appreciating the value of stability both on court and off. Teams can develop their game plans more and fans can become more connected.
Look at the player points value of long term players to Hawks.
Possible new teams in major cities is also a possible motivation for regional based teams.

Has to be a 2+1, no way you offer him a 3 year deal at 32 unless there is a severe drop in salary by year 3.
