What Delly has done is make life difficult for him inside a disciplined team defensive system, much like Darren Lucas and Mike Kelly did to Andrew Gaze back in the day.
They could lock him up on certain possessions and even some nights, but Drewey was always going to have games where it didnt matter what Lucas, Kelly and their teammates did.
Just because a great scorer gets points, doesn't mean an individual or team played poor defence. And just because a scorer gets off one night, it doesn't detract from the defensive performance of another night.
Delly's effort moving his feet, fighting over screens, getting a hand up to shots, chasing down from behind, denying catches, deflecting passes and being a flat out pain in the arse has been truly world class. He deserves nothing but credit for his defensive efforts.
