Boomers beat Japan in game 1

Boomers top scorers

Mark Worthington 11 points/ 2 steals

Japanese top scorers
Tomoo Amino 13 points
Ryota Sakurai 12 points

1st Qtr: Aust 2819 Japan
2nd Qtr: Aust 3828 Japan
3rd Qtr: Aust 5945 Japan

Boxscore in Japanese

Holmes: 9:45 on court for 2 points from FT, an assist and a steal. Forman: 2:17 on court, no stats. Vasiljevic had 5 points and 3 boards in 8 minutes. That's as much as I can be bothered to work out.

The Japanese for Crawford's name translates as "Peter clo Ford". Hehe. Jacob's last name translates as "Hormuz". LOL.

Update: There were live scores for that first game, so we can assume there might be for the second too, which is tomorrow in Nagasaki.

I'm guessing that the scores will be live again if you can work out enough Japanese to find out the URL. Game time is 1:00 PM, Saturday, Japanese time I think.

Isaac, Noti ..

Where does Japan sit in the world rankings (usually) ?
Would we be happy or disappointed with the winning margin ?

Also good to see Worthington stepping in and making a good contribution right away, i think he will be a good impact player for us for a few years to come.

Japan are 23rd in the world rankings.

Australia is well-below full power with CJ and Sav being the only players with any real international experience, so I'm sure we'd like to win, but losses are not going to foretell C'wealth/Olympic doom, IMO.

Boomers team
Glen Saville (Wollongong), CJ Bruton (Sydney), Wade Helliwell (Lottomatica Roma), Jacob Holmes (Adelaide), Mark Worthington (Sydney), Alex Loughton (Old Dominion University), Russell Hinder (Hunter), Peter Crawford (Perth), Luke Martin (Sydney), Pero Vasiljevic (JDA Dijon), Oscar Forman (Adelaide), Andrew Rice (Wollongong).

Ok - I give up.... Can someone tell me who of the above is "Clearing Snow Away"???

I would have thought Andrew RICE would have been a very easy translation...lol

From what I can work out, i could be wrong but it is out of 3 people. Pero, Luke Martin and Russel Hinder. But as I said I could be wrong.

#14, 208cm centre from the Pirates. I'd say Russell Hinder, but no idea where that translation came from.

I like how Oscar's is "The Oscar" etc.

Goorj just doesn't translate at all, so nothing new there! JK.

Other good ones are "Chute ratio" and "Test throwing". Oh, and "3 point chutes". The boxscore indicates that Holmes started, but only played 9:45.

Pero hit a three in there too.
