Someone else gets a chance, no issue for me that he isn't that keen, plenty of local Aussie kids who want to play for this country!

Wont see him till after he is drafted. Doesn`t want to go there and perform badly against quality talent.

Yes, this whole process wreaks of trying to get drafted high as early as possible and not necessarily develop properly as a player.

Every indication is that he will go to college in the US, so I think he will have plenty of time for exposure, good or bad.

I know you've got to look after your career and he's set to earn quite a bit, but being scared to take on the best in the world for the sake of not wanting to get shown up, isn't a trait that I'd be looking for in a player...

You look at the guys we've got in the NBA now, Ingles, Patty, Banes, Delly, they haven't shrunk from challenges, they've gone up against them and thrived all the better for it...

Exum sort of took the opposite path to Maker in that he didn't have the competition against less skilled high school kids but did well on the International stage and THEN was like "we're not showing what he can do until he's drafted". Bogut I guess took the standard drafting path, but even then didn't shy away from International competition until injury concerns, if I'm not mistaken?

It just stinks of the guardian and looking after the bottom dollar...

Hey LC small error to amend on the page.

"The 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship (Men) will be held in Heraklion, Greece from July 27 to July 5.

Insert June 27 to July 5

Cheers and thanks for the update

Barely news, was never going to play.
It's all about Smith protecting his investment.

2 things, his guardian is as most Australians label someone they dislike. a real Dickhead. I also believe he is gonna be a huge bust.

both him and his guardian have one goal in mind, and that's making the nba. Can't blame him in terms of risks vs reward.
Do I think he will be a bust? I actually think he will be a good player once he gains some more size. An sf/pf.

Out of interest how do you think he is going to get drafted before playing in either college or Europe next season?

If he suddenly says he is 2 years older then previously there will be major red flags and he would drop to the second round at best.

He was never australian to begin with so really free to play anywhere they will accept him. But the age issue is the same with all these refugees.

notice how he has pretty much looked the same for the last 3 or 4 years, only put on a little muscle. only thing that's got better is his fundamentals.
