Pakenham d2w lost to Frankston VYCW by 9 however frankston didn't even get out of first gear, the reffing was insane with nearly 22 foul calls in the first quarter meaning very low intensity.
Blackburn beat Chelsea d2w by 1.
Blackburn D1M beat U18M State team by 20 (Country), had to work hard in second half to get over them though.
lo lo low

Pakenham D2M went the distance against a very good Geelong D1M went down by 1
Were Geelong at full strength ??
Who have Pakky picked up ??
Coburg have picked up mabor Maniel and harding as well as maweeba maluma still there. How did they get smashed? Did they all play?
Warrandyte YL2M def Coburg YL1M by 5
Warrandyte D1M def Coburg D2M by 36
Hume City YL1W def Warrandyte YL1W by 27
Warrandyte SCW def Hawthorn D1W by about 30
These results, without any comment are not very useful, they are practice matches after all. Any comment on team lists, ins/outs or what coaches were trying can add plenty to reading just the scores. Otherwise just scores alone are quite useless really!
Coburg had all those guys, they are a very big team but very slow team. Maniel, Harding, Charalambos, Rigoni x2, plus a couple other bigs.
They need to learn how to use a top heavy lineup to their advantage on offense and not get burnt going the other way.
Do what they did years back when they won a title. 1-3-1 zone. That is how the youth side has stayed competitive by sitting in zones all game.
That whole Coburg team is poo. Would get beat by D Grade MSAC.
Didn't that coburg team beat keilor a few weeks back?

If Coburg can get their team on the same page then they will be a major threat in D2M. Hopefully them and their youth league side don't resort to 40 minutes straight of zone. I'd like to see more thought go into their planning.
Hawthorn Men are missing a fair few pieces as well, they've now lost to Southern Peninsula and Camberwell. Timmons did not play in either game and their import is still to come.
The Western Port women look as though they will struggle in Division 1 Women, they only really have Thompson and Cooper who will be able to hold their own at Division 1 level. The rest of the squad have a lot of space for improvement. They were beaten convincingly on the weekend just gone.
that's all Coburg do is play zone. that's what they learn playing youth then continue on into mens

Casey D1 men lost by 2 to Waverly champ in OT
Casey Y2 beat waverly VYC by around 35.
Pretty simple situation. Casey have spent huge money this year to buy a D1M championship so they can be promoted to SCM next season as they wanted this year. They have not done it through hard work and development of program so there will be an asterisk next to their name when they win it.
While I believe in promotion/relegation, in this case Big V have got it wrong in allowing Casey to play D1M with a stacked side. The D1M season is a right off before it has even started. Anyone saying it is not is off their rocker.
Waverley SCM will go very close to winning the title this season and for Casey to force OT at this time of year adds weight to Big V again getting a decision wrong.
If casey only have good big guys they won't win it especially with their terrible home rings strong won't be able to shoot free throws. You need good guards to win a championship.
Casey should be in SCM, this proves it as most D1M teams would not even come close to competing with any SCM sides. The gap is huge
