2015 NBA All Star Starters

West:
Stephen Curry
Kobe Bryant
Anthony Davis
Blake Griffin
Marc Gasol

East:
John Wall
Kyle Lowry
Lebron James
Carmelo Anthony
Pau Gasol

Thoughts? I would have rather have Durant and Harden starting in the West and rather have someone else replace Anthony as a starter in the East

Kobe Bryant and Melo being named starters is a joke. Harden is much more deserving, Jeff Teague should also start. Just shows the current system is more of a popularity contest than a benefit for those actually performing

Don't necessarily agree re Jeff Teague. I mean who do you take out? But yeah, this is why fans should never vote. Melo has missed a lot of games on the worst team in the league and Kobe is in a similar situation. Probably spot on outside of those two, though.

Fan vote cheapened this years ago. I can't believe they have stuck with it. Is the "fan engagement" really worth belittling what should be a mark a honour and distinction.

Particularly with the new "super-max" contract clauses and the like. Continued fan vote is ludicrous.

Melo and Gortat got 5x as many votes as Horford and Millsap. That's just a little bit silly.

the starters are always about who is most popular. does melo really deserve to statrt in the all star contest? NO way he does. his team are awful and hasnt had the greatest of seasons so far, but because he is a high profile player he gets the nod. durant and westbrook dont deserve to start as they have missed 6 weeks of the nba season already. if they were putting up the same numbers as they are now during those 6 weeks they would have played then yes they should start. la marcus aldrige is putting up 20 and 10 but didnt get the nod. only 2 other players in the nba are doing that and that is davis and cousins, surprise cousins isnt there? im not because once again it comes down to a popularity contest. how can the hawks not have a starter? once again its a popularity contest. give it to the people who deserve it the most.

Naph, fan voting has been in place since 1975, so if the game was cheapened by the process then it happened a long time ago.

It's the All-STAR game. It's for stars, not necessarily the best players. It's a showcase. It's just a stupid game that doesn't mean anything at all besides being an advertisement for the league.

Making the All NBA Teams is a mark of honour and distinction for being one of the best 15 players in the NBA. Making the All-Star game means you've been selected to sell the league to the public. Which is a mark of honour and distinction in it's own way I guess.

The players that were selected absolutely do deserve it. Because they are the most popular stars. And that is what the game is about and has been for at least 40 years.
