R13: Wollongong Hawks v Perth Wildcats

Perth are easily favoured to win this, but in the NBL almost anything is possible. It's a "must win" for the Cats, so in some ways the pressure is on them.

Hopefully Greg Hire will be back on court, so it will be interesting to see how he goes in his first game for several weeks. Hopefully some of the bench players will get an opportunity to shine this game, as their production was down against Melbourne.

Even though there are three games "tonight" it doesn't look like any are being televised. I guess NYE isn't a big night for TV?

When Damo says he needs to improve he means it.

17 points and 4 assists 2 and 2

Wow Hawks got ripped off by the officials being called soft fouls like the late one on Ervin. Nothing in it. Looks like officials don't need to be at perth arena to favour the wildcats

Hard fought win by the cats but seriously the Hawks need a clean out. Why persist with Davidson time to ship him out and luke nevill, softest 7ft player ever in nbl. 2 point 3 rebounds while jervis gets 10 and 10 plus a steal and block in same amount of minutes. Luke nevill I'm sorry is lazy and overrated and was like that when he played in perth. No wonder he came back to Australia, no overseas club wanted his lazy work ethic.

@Wildcats80, "luke nevill, softest 7ft player ever in nbl" Axel Dench called and wants you to reconsider!

So does Sam Harris. If the Hawks hadn't given up a 12-0 run they were certain winners.

Solid win by the Cats but if they had only conceded 12 fewer points to the Hawks it would have been a huge thrashing

Wow, not exactly an inspiring win against the probable spooners. Hawks leading for much of the game, until that late run by Martin, Redhage & Ross late in the 3rd.

Obviously great to see Martin back amongst the scorers, and given that, its a bit hard to mark other players down, overall a good spread of scorers.
(Although U'U seems to have lost the hot hands he had before Christmas.)

One CURIOUS thing I noticed, was that in the 1st (& 2nd) periods the cats were hitting 3's and the Hawks couldn't buy one, then in the 2nd half it seemed to reverse. I guess 3's are difficult at the best of teams, and fortunes in a BBL game often ebb & flow. Just thought it was weird how one end of the court seemed to favour outside shooting.

Anyone know if Hire suited up, or even made the trip?
His return has been "imminent" for a couple of weeks now.
