Luke Walton Allstars: Joe Ingles
Once again Grantland's Zach Lowe has released his annual 'Luke Walton All-Stars' column in which he focuses on the journeyman NBA players.
Team Walton is for journeymen thriving in unexpectedly large roles, and NBA players are confident sorts; they rarely find their individual success surprising.
His roster for this years squad looks like this:
STARTERS
G: Louis Williams (Captain), Toronto Raptors
G: Aaron Brooks, Chicago Bulls
F: Jared Dudley, Milwaukee Bucks
F: Kris Humphries, Washington Wizards
C: Chris Kaman, Portland Trailblazers
BENCH
G: Rasual Butler, Washington Wizards
G: Beno Udrih, Memphis Grizzlies
F: Patrick Patterson, Toronto Raptors
F: Joe Ingles, Utah Jazz
G: Jason Terry, Houston Rockets
C: Lavoy Allen, Indiana Pacers
C: Ed Davis, Los Angeles Lakers
His writeup for Australia's own Joe Ingles is somewhat informative and positive, however it seems to highlight his "deficiencies" and his unselfish play in a different light to what is expected after reading other player write-ups. It's another Grantland/Zach Lowe piece worth reading, but the kicker for me was this quote:
Ingles, a longtime Aussie pro who somehow always looks as if he hasn't showered in days, is producing one of the most bizarro seasons ever for a wing player.
