Big 10 is a pretty good conference, even if they do have 14 teams in the conference now :S
hard to work out big 10 has lots of teams in top 100 but none in the top ten where as pac 12 has 3 teams in top 10 and also lots of teams in top 100, i suppose the average of all the teams in the conference would give some idea

If we go by Final 4, in the last ten years:
Big 10 - 8 teams making it
Big East (New) - 4 teams
American (includes new teams) - 4 teams
Atlantic Coast- 9 teams (includes new members)
Big 12 - 5 teams
SEC - 7 teams
PAC 10 - 3 teams
Missouri Valley - 1
Colonial - 2
Conference USA - 1 (but voided due to violations)
Leaves Atlantic Coast on top, followed by Big 10, SEC and Big 12.

Yeah, look at ACC (Atlantic Coast) and you just can't go past that conference for NCAA D1 as possibly the best in 2015...
Virginia
Duke
Louisville
Miami
Norte Dame
North Carolina
Syracuse
Etc.......
Always worth a watch!
In the States they used to call the top 6 conferences the POWER 6, but that was until the Big East conference was split up and the new American conference was formed. These are the top 7 conferences.
1 - Big Ten
2 - American
3 - ACC
4 - Big 12
5 - SEC
6 - Pac-12
7 - Big East
There is a big gap between these conferences and the rest. To rate the rest I would put them into these groupings
Group 2
8 - Mountain West
9 - Atlantic 10
10 - West Coast
11 - Conference USA
12 - Missouri Valley
13 - Ohio Valley
14 - Horizon
Group 3
15 - Colonial
16 - Ivy
17 - Mid-American
18 - Sun Belt
19 - Patriot League
20 - Big Sky
21 - MAAC
22 - Southern
23 - WAC
Group 4
24 - Big West
25 - MEAC
26 - Summit League
27 - SWAC
28 - Southland
29 - Big South
30 - Northeast
31 - Atlantic Sun
32 - America East
Also just to clarify with those Groupings here are the NCAA tournament stats. you will see the top 7 conferences have historically dominated the NCAA tournament with it being very difficult to make the final 4 or win the tournament being a team outside of those conferences. The teams in the weaker conferences usually get the tournament bid and then get bounced in the first round.
Teams from GROUP 1 (7 conferences)
- 1,673 NCAA tournament appearances
- 2,319 NCAA tournament game wins
- 256 times to NCAA final 4
- 65 NCAA Championships
Teams from GROUP 2 (7 Conferences)
- 594 NCAA tournament appearances
- 388 NCAA tournament game wins
- 26 times to NCAA final 4
- 7 NCAA Championships
Teams from GROUP 3 (9 Conferences)
- 453 NCAA tournament appearances
- 191 NCA tournament game wins
- 9 times to NCAA final 4
- 1 NCAA Championship
Teams from GROUP 4 (9 Conferences)
- 189 NCAA tournament appearances
- 49 NCAA tournament game wins
- 2 times to NCAA final 4
- 0 NCAA Championships
