A mate of mine (a baller and a comedian) tells this story

"We entered a team into a social comp, giving ourselves the name BYE-Round. So when the program's were printed when a team thought they were to play us, they saw BYE-Round and didn't rock up. We then would meet at the stadium, wait the mandatory 10 minutes, then go down the pub. It was 20-0 wins for most of the season."

Also, a team i currently play against are called 'Yo Momma' it funny when someone cheers for them. "Go yo momma" ... "c'mon yo momma" etc

Sleep On It - came about after they couldn't decide on a team name and said "Oh, let's sleep on it!"

No great sporting team names that I can recall, but we won best team name at a quiz night for "A Shower of Bastards", 'shower' being the collective noun for a group of bastards (another interesting one is "a lick of lesbians").

'BYE' as a team name is gold.

A mate of mine played for a social team in Sydney called:

'Gods Love Children'

I now score for a team called GEORGE...named after the player who scored the least points.

Thus, we can now exlaim "George scored 36 points!"

Another beach volleyball team I know goes by the name Scared Hitless.

BYE-round is an absolute classic.

When a team from Taperoo High School left school but stayed together as a team on Sat mornings at St Clair, the name became Taperoo Testys.
A team recently played at St Clair as The Wonderful World of Goodness sponsored by Burnt Toast. The refs hated it- they could play too. The next name for the team was Hungry Goats, then St Angela's Choirboys.

I play in a team called the 'Dehydrated Potatoes'. A guy on the team suggested it as a joke and the captain thought he was being serious and nominated the team under the name.

My work has a mens social team called 'Anti Social'

we had one team (beach VB) called No Idea. if you asked the opposition who they were playing, or the team what their name was the answer would be "no idea" - ahh small things... lol

Remember seeing a team called "off in the shower" .. if they lost a game they'd all go up to shake hands and say "congrats, you just beat off in the shower" .. again, small things ..

In the Wednesday night comp at Golden Grove, there is a team that a few of the refs play in. So, another team decided to call themselves "Umpires Team" to create confusion. There's also another team called "Team Name".
