Kobe trade to Knicks??

Just read an interesting article on the positives/negatives about a potential trade of kobe to the Knicks! On the surface actually would make sense for both teams. Would make the Knicks automatic championship contenders then give the lakers the fresh start in needs to rebuild properly!
Lakers would never do it but it's worth a discussion to see what everyone thinks!

Pretty sure Kobe's got a no trade clause in his contract and I doubt he would agree to it.

If lakers are that bad where they look like winning no more then 20 games he might think about it!

Lakers won't trade Kobe, Kobe won't want to leave Lakers. The hypothetical is so unlikely it's beyond fantasy. It would be only a hypothetical, and probably a waste of time to even discuss it.

IN saying that, with the Knicks roster, if they could give away anyone that isn't Carmello or Amare and get a trade done, they'd probably do it in a flash with the off chance the horrible team turns into a top 3 East team.

Yep, Kobe probably wouldn't do it. And the Knicks would still be nowhere near championship material. Even if you could add Kobe without losing anyone.
That and Melo and Kobe would be a horrible mix.

the knicks would trade amare in a flash but no one wants his albatross contract. and whoever said kobe on the knicks makes them instant contenders needs to slap themself..

You'll find the brand "Kobe" is attached to the Lakers and a number of his off court endorsements are tied to the fact he plays in LA.

The Lakers management also won't be keen to move Kobe as he really is the only thing keeping the fans from completely turning there back on the place and the last link to a period of success.

The above said I'd love the move to Happen, Randle is out for the year so he'd come back better next season and ready to be paired with another high draft pick.

You'll rid yourself of Lin, Nash, Boozer & Kobe in a single season....then throw the bank at a rebuild and back Byron Scott to really help sell the place to a couple of good FA's plus a nice draft pick to go with Randle and you've got a good future to build around moving forward.

The FA's I'd target are: Marc Gasol, Rajon Rondo, Greg Monroe, LaMarcus Aldridge

RFAs: Jimmy Butler,Kahwi Lenard

If you can get 2 or even 3 of the above with a Randle then fit some nice pieces you could compete in the West.

Lakers should throw Lenard max money...despite the fact his season avg's prob don't deserve it at this stage.

They really need to make a splash!

If Klay Thompson is a max player then Leonard is too.

Spurs will try to convince him to settle for less but ultimately that's what he is worth.

From a business view: No Kirby's brand is worth too much for Lakers.
From basketball view: Knicks have big payroll and do not need Kirby's quillions on their books. Further no point having Melo and Kirby together. Not enough shots to go around and that's b4 Smith and Hardaway get any.

Re: Kawhi Leonard.

Some concerns regarding his knee and patella tendonitis.
