Ingles starts in Clippers pre-season game

Ingles is having a great start to his NBA career making some smart moves. Doc has faith in him giving him the starting position. Commentators are giving Ingles some big props.

Should be playing for my Pelicans.

We have no 3 men, Clippers have plenty.

Are you guys serious?

I love joe ingles but he didn't do himself any favours today. He was always going to start today it was planned as doc is trailing players for the 3 spot . Himself bullock Cunningham Barnes, Douglas-roberts etc. and he's basically the first to play only 18 minutes.

Don't just judge a game on stats guys. He was a nil threat on offence and defensively galinari made him look silly. Feel for Joe don't think this Is right situation for him, but Im sure he's learning plenty, he did have one really nice play where he faked the lob In motion to deandre and threw a dime to Blake but apart from that he hit free throws from team fouls .

Silly post title though

Good for a first game. I think Doc will be pleased as the first game is more less to get them into the system. Look at Baynes first game he threw it to the opposition on the first play which gave them an open dunk then he was dragged.

Ingles is fourth string according to all reputable basketball statistics websites. Unfortunately for him (and us) I don't think he will see much of the court during the regular season without alot of injuries.

For what it is worth the Clipper Commentators were raving about Joe.
Said he has all the skills and is always in the right spot.
They said the coaches are very happy with his camp so far.

Obviously he hasn't shown much in games yet, but he could be that glue player teams need off the bench.
Does a bit of everything and is happy to play D, pass the ball to the stars and take open shots.

He did get owned by Gallinari on one play though :), shook him off balance and drove to the ring with ease.

I think he will be the 14-15th man all year and if he shows enough he could get another contract and jump to rotation backup3rd string SF next year.

Having said that besides Barnes, there are no stand-out backup SF options.
CDR has been around for a while and never stepped up.
Bullock didn't do much last season and shot really badly, 35% FG 30% 3pt.
Turk is on his last legs and will just be used as a shooter, when he is not injured.

So who know if Joe starts showing more and more as the season progresses he could get some minutes Especially since the Clips should be blowing out half the teams, 70-80% of the east :)

He threw a sweet pass to a cutting CP3 early as well.

Whoever plays the 3 with be 5th option on the floor with their starters. Hopefully he gets some court time in the last couple of preseason games to make a claim for regular rotation.
