Trouble at 36ers HQ?

Am I the only one incredibly dissapointed at lack of any significant communication between the club and its fans this pre-season?.
Let's take a look at another club to further illustrate my point.
Wollongong have created a club anthem and released it to the fans, as well as being very active on all forms of social media including Instagram. When it comes to responding to fan questions on all topics in the comments section of their facebook they consistently reply in a highly professional manner and actually answer the question. The Hawks online store has been well structured and has been selling this seasons merchandise for close to a month now.
Say what you want about the name change, Melbourne United have been on fire this preseason on and off the court. Having a large multitude of merchandise available for weeks as well as frequent public appearances to promote the season. Their social media has been constantly updated with unique player profiles and photos of all the day to day events the club are getting involved with.
Meanwhile the 36ers faithful are yet to see any update from Deans Desk for a significant amount of time, especially given the fact the season is only 7 days away and the lack of communication received from the top of the organization has been poor at best. The 36ers online store has been closed and under maintenance for over two months and remains so to this very moment, whilst other clubs are happily selling this years merchandise to their hungry fan bases, Adelaide have been completely inactive and silent on this front for an awfully long time.
Other than the 36ers 'fan day' (which was awfully timed being held on a work/school day during working hours) and the 'Amazing Race' event, can anyone honestly say they are satisfied with the clubs presence this preseason? Especially given we were one game away from a championship 7 months ago.
I don't want this to come across as me 'having a go'. I am simply majorly concerned at what I am seeing (or not seeing) from the club I love. These are not good signs at all. Can anyone perhaps provide an explanation for the 36ers silence this preseason?
And what can we as the fans, do to help this club which seems to be in some sort of situation.

No offense man but any post that has a 'I dont want this to sound like im...' generally is.

Perhaps they ARE having money issues, perhaps there are personality conflicts there. Perhaps they are just concentrating on the ball on the court.

Majority of things mentioned aren't money things but effort things.

It costs nothing to run Facebook , send emails or put comms on Twitter.

Lots of hype initially turning into a pungent smell

Joey,

Your whole post is negative against the Sixers, seems like having a go to me.

That is not to suggest your thoughts are not warranted.

It would have been nice for them to be more active on the communication front Yes...but they aren't completely silent, then there is news they will publish, like the official signing of DQ, Creek and Daly's SEABL success, Amazing Race.

Give them a break ffs.

You pack of wankers....the original post has hit the nail on the head.

There has been NOTHING this preseason and with a week to go before the season start, the "professional" SIXERS site has only half the team listed and no merchandise running. Season ticket holders still waiting to receive our tickets and absolutely nothing in the media about our season commencement.

This is all before I even mention the half baked team we are presenting following the first year in many at playing for the flag. Signs are now that we are destined to return to the bottom of the ladder......... Perhaps that's why the silence and poor communication (NIL) from this club.

Pathetic SIXERS management, bloody pathetic.

Not that difficult to do some social media is it? Do they have a FB presence? Isn't that what a website's for?
Communicating with the fans? Members email? Valid points it seems to me by the OP.
Having money issues? Oh please.

OK Sixers fans, lets all understand that the sixers are being run completely by a small group of people who love the club, and in most cases have buried their own real cash into keepinh it going. It is easy for fans and members to put in their $100 and then whinge about the decisions made by the guys who put in millions!

Lets use our own socail media to promote the club, increasing awareness of the great product they offer - elete level sports entertainment, suitable for everyone.

Fans spread the word on your own facebook, but lets try to put as positive a spin on the NBL and all things 36ers as possible.

We are wanting more information from the club because we love it so lets stop putting it down. Try believing those few who put their serious cash on the line might have their own issues as well. We don't know what is going on. All we know if those guys must really love the club to put so much of their lives into it.
Clubs like Hawks and United have new ownership or new agendas and so are at a stage where they are throwing money at this thing, Wildcats have a super rich guy backing them so they have been able to throw enough money at it for a while so that they now actually make money. They also have a great new venue built by their government right in the city, a biut like how Adelaide oval helps Crows and Power.
Lets get along and support the Sixers all season, and take a friend each time that hasn't been their before.

SWISH - then they should ask for help.... Plenty of people with skills willing to give some time to help out but no one is asking….. Most of us know what it takes as many are involved with a club already and give up time to the sport they love…. ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE...

The Wildcats made a million for each of the last two years.

Yes Jack is there, but they can stand on they own two feet.

Lets recognise that.

Heres hoping that Adelaide is working towards that goal too.

The question is more, are those two sponsors going to be there for this season (despite not being present on the preseason singlets) or were they only there for those few games against Japan (a bit odd to sponsor just for those games..)

I've been a Sixers Season Ticket Holder since the Dusty Rychart days, had our first baby in September and can't renew this Season. There has been no attempt in any way from the Sixers via letter or even email to get me to sign on.

Maybe the club should call every non renewing member ( roughly 500 ish, phone 70 per day for a week ) or even get a Sixers player or past player to make personal calls to fans. If Maher, Sapwell or KB rang, there would probably be 80% of past members recommit.

As many state on here, a lot of the Sixers problems aren't money related, they struggle to connect with fans.

"they struggle to connect with fans"

This may actually be a fair comment. It is not that their product is unattractive, but the hype around the product needs to have the ante upped. The social media output has been criticised by many and Isaac has reported on here about his friend who specialises in social media offering to do it at the cost of a couple of season tickets that was rejected.

Certainly marketing needs to improve by a long shot. Some NBA teams have "Snap Chat" accounts which are very popular with the U25's - essential in my opinion and so easy for one of the office girls to pop down, take a small 10 sec video of Creeky dunking, or one of the other guys doing something. Have a mid week one, pre game one, and perhaps a post game one.

I would also try to get some free marketing research from the Uni too

Im a Perth fan (just took out my first ever membership this year). I can state that if they were playing in their old location I wouldnt be a member and I wouldnt be going. Its not close to me at all.

I didnt get a call from a player.

I think United are actually the highlight so far from me. THey are engaging with their fans (even if some of their fans are the 'Tigers till I die!' variety). They are doing more community engagement, actively hunting sponsors and the like. Hopefully they bring the game as well on court. I cant say Im a huge fan of the name, but if they bring some quality play I wont care.

The 36ers have done a good job in Darwin this off season. They played the 3 games and Mitch came back to run a few more camps.

They left a good impression and there is probably potential there for the club to get some money off the the NT Government to bring a game up to Darwin once expansion kicks in and the number of games increases.

The Internet is a crowded place right now with a lot of people/companies after attention/eye balls. As long as the club are doing the off line stuff right (camps, appearances at schools, efc) I'm sure the club will be ok.

Also if you are a member I'm sure the club will help answer any questions you have if you use that old school device and pick up the telephone and ask them.

On the web and social media front, I think they've had a break for a few years now.

The efforts have been occasional rather than consistent and if you're a fan whose satisfaction (seeing successful teams) is partly dependent on the success of the club, I think you have some stake in the marketing efforts of a club.

A member should not have to ring to ask questions.. The question the 36ers staff should be asking whenever there is something happening or join got happen, 'Who else needs to now and who else would like to know', then you will have a communication strategy starting point. If memberships are not collected at members night which was poorly communicated in itself (not every member has Facebook or twitter, most have email and everyone has a mailing address, then it should have been the Sixers that communicated immediately after that memberships would be posted out, not waiting for individuals to be complaining online and getting response online. Yes people can ring, but they shouldn't have to. Good management or communication answers questions before they are asked if they know their customer base well.

MArcus, no more excuses... the Facebook site posting a couple of pics form the Arkaba season launch tonight so they have time but not for members….

Back to seasons of old

Not good enough that members have no tickets with 3 days to go and poor poor poor member communication. In fact none, just a few posts on Facebook for those who have Facebook.. Since when in any organisation does a member have to search for information rather than have it sent to them.. Group emails are the easiest and cheapest form of personal communication..

Fans go to the games despite the administration not because of..
