Some of the guys that missed out on the U17 team like Sean Cranney, Myles Cherry, Tim Molloy-Leigh and Jock Perry are all potential Div 1 (maybe high Div 2) guys

The potential to go to college? There are hundreds of Australians playing college ball in the states every year.

Mick is absolutely right, so e kids have not been heard of before because they don't make state teams Aus camps, but can still get good college placements in div1 and 2

I highly doubt there are even 100 division one college basketball players from Australia, much less hundreds.

This is the best list I have been able to find, what is surprisng is that their are so many more kids over there than you would think, but how few are playing basketball at large Div1 colleges.

http://strive4college.com/us-college/aussies-in-college/

This was also interesting (is based on Girls Basketball)

•There are more than seven million high school athletes, but there are college roster spots for just two percent of them
•Just one percent of those seven million student-athletes get a full ride to a Division I program
•There are 348 Div 1 NCAA Teams with 15 scholarships per team, total of 5220 players in Div 1 NCAA

There is effectively less than 1200 Freshman scholarships available for Div1 NCAA per year.

Yeah mick, "hundreds". Or 55. Or about 13 aussies a year. Unless you think OP was asking about NAIA or women players, which is very unlikely, it was a perfectly reasonable question. Typical response from you though.

Plenty of women players at div 1 colleges, and even more men and women at div 2 so there are more than 13 Aussies a year going to USA college

Doesn't say men or women, but being on here you have to assume it would only be the men being asked about......

The answer was plenty, and that's right, many have the potential , many don't take that road though.
