half time - france 36-28

Australia aren't really firing yet, not really matching the athleticism with the starting line up. Our defence is strong but the offence isn't there yet.

Ingles needs to step up in the 2nd half

I start this by saying I hope they were not playing 100% for a reason, because the offence tonight was awful, the rotations didn't match up well and the ball movement was just to slow (against a tall athletic team).

Newley, exum and motum, when on, looked great. Baynes was good and played strong but missed way to many shots, but the problem at the moment is that Delly and Ingles really can not go missing as they did in this game.

At 28 - 26 in the 2nd qtr they stalled in scoring and never got back into it.

the last quarter was seriously bad totally lost composure.

outside of Baynes there is no go to scorer, andre is going to have to have a talk to Delly and Ingles as well as get confidence back into Bairstow asap.

this was bad

Final score was 73-50 after a 23-10 final quarter. When compared with the win a few nights ago this highlights the inconsistency of the team so far.

As always the WC will be about playing our best games on the right nights, something Aussie teams haven't always done but I know Lemanis is well aware of and planning for.

Baynes had 17 points, 11 boards and three blocks but no one else did anything of note on the stats sheet, Ingles and Delly combining for almost as many assists as turnovers which has happened a few times.

Well, the good news is the build-up is over and it means nothing now, it's how they go in five days time that counts.

Not a good way to finish your preparations, but better a bad performance now that in a week's time!

Recap now up on PnR:

France smother Booomers ahead of World Cup

The Australian Boomers have gone down to France 73-50 in Strasbourg in their last hit-out before their 2014 FIBA World Cup campaign begins later this week in Spain. For the first time on their European tour, the Boomers struggled offensively through an entire match, shooting just 30% from the field. However Aron Baynes continued to be a pillar of consistency in delivering 17 points and 11 rebounds.

I think what happened here is France changed up their game plan from last time they played and whatever they did caught Australia by surprise, plus they probably played their full roster and had the Aussies figured from last time. The scoreline probably isn't indicative of how the game would play out in the World Cup. Having said that, not the best way to finish before the tournament.. hopefully they shore up for Slovenia on Saturday.

Finland gave France a good run and kept the game close the night before.

Seems like the French aren't a team you want to catch on a good day (Diaw and Batum are tough matchups for most countries).

That was embarrassing, some of the worst basketball I've seen the boomers play. Andersen has to be one of the worst defenders to play professionally (between him and James Harden.) I hope Lemanis instructed them to play that terribly otherwise I don't know what the point of all the preparations been for, the offense was non-existent and the defence wasnt much better, they just struggle to score or even execute simple passes seemed difficult. I don't know what the Jazz executives would be thinking watching exum
