1st 1/4
Australia 19 / Japan 23
opals 39 / japan 46
japan killing us with there ball movement.
hurst, mitchell and hodges have been solid so far.
allen, snell, madgen, jarry and tolo have been ok.
cambage and burton have not been great.
screen only played a few minutes so far.
lavey no minutes as yet.
australia scrape through for the win.
opals 80 / japan 79
anyone have link to livestats?
horrible game for aus. cambage looked spent.
Cambage is a complete non factor in defence, relies on penetration from guards to open up space to score, although she does that with ease
I'm a little shocked. Shocked to read that Cambage was anything other than 100% fit, healthy and dominant at both ends with a great positive team attitude to boot.
She is heLthy, I just think she is lazy and expects a lob in to the paint for an easy lay up every possession and doesn't work enough for anything
game 2 vs japan
looking much better than yesterday.
cambage not playing.
I really like mitchell, allen and lavey.
hurst, hodges and snell have been solid.
tolo, burton, jarry, madgen and screen still not sold on.
game one box score.

Aussies killing Japan in game 2. Snell on fire in first half.
lavey will be the number 1 pg in rio (just needs to improve her shooting)

something like this?
mitchell/1 of hurst, wilson or lavey (hard call)
phillips/snell

snell over screen and madgen
kunek over jarry

"lavey will be the number 1 pg in rio (just needs to improve her shooting)"
your joking right.............no way she needs to do a lot more than that, shot selection, defence, vision and overall game plus Rio is only two years away, Mitchell and Hurst will still be their so to Phillips, Lavey is not even close their calibre, Joyce just seems to have a thing for her.
By the time the next olympics come around in 2020, their will be whole new group.

don't know where you got those stats from but that wasn't the game I watched last night, Cambage most certainly was on the court9not that she did much). Mitchell played more than 15 mins that's for sure, she played the whole of the last quarter without a sub and won them the game so again she scored.

ok got now , didn't realise they had already played game2 sorry. Where did you pull the stats from how do you find it on livestream?
by the time rio comes around:
mitchell will be 32
hurst will be 34
phillips will be 32
wilson will be 32
mccully will be 34
lavey will be there at age 23. The only other guard in the same age bracket that is capable would be rebecca cole, although she's better at the 2.
wallace, antoniadou, panousis still too young.
2018 comm games and beyond.

Wilson wont be 32 its only 2 yrs off 2016 she's only 26 now and harrower still played till 36 with several knee recos. Mitchell and Hurst are fit and relatively injury free. Why do you think Joyce convinced Mitchell to play for Australia it wasn't just for worlds she has olympics in her sights. Lavey will still be too young to run starting pg.
We are talking about Kelly Wilson, that was born in 1984? Making her 32 come Rio. Right?
I'm glad Liz stayed in Australia to prepare with Joyce and co instead of competing a few times a week against the best players in the world.
