Have heard they are having a great time and everywhere they go an adoring Chinese public is looking up at them.

First up loss on Friday night to China 68 - 70.
Down narrowly to the US on Sat night 64 - 65.
And comfortable win over Slovenia 74 - 53 (from memory)on Sunday night. Big day of travel on Monday via plane and bus.
Three games against the same opposition later in the week. Meizhou? Coastal city.
And before anyone asks about stats, not getting much feedback there.
Apparently Vasiljevic and Noi have been playing really well. Not sure about any other stats.
Any chance someone from B.A. Could give two hoots about our junior National team and post us some game reviews?
That would just be lovely, wouldn't it?

^^ Agree with above - I meam Basketball Australia expect us all to be interested in the National Program - but they can't even post some basic information in regard to how things are going.
Obviously by the level of posts to this forum in regard to the mens u17 Aussie program, there is an enormous interest out there.

Imagine what the USA junior basketball teams are getting in regards to support and media, just saying...

Can't even find any stats so unless you are there on tour with the team, there is not much to report!

LC, that would be the case if we only rely on another country to provide live stats or similar, however anyone there could do a write up on a lap top and post it, could they not?
Probably no one from B.A. or any Australian media arm interested enough I would suggest, just a pitty really...
I do hope there is far more media interest at the Worlds in a few short weeks, surely there will be!>?

seems like someone from BA has been following these comments. A report just appeared on their website :)

they continued their good run, this time getting one back - 78-67 win against China

They still have two games remaining - today against USA and tomorrow Slovenia, so most probably flying out Sunday.

Alpha, do you know who is on that USA team? Are they our boys' ages or older? Is it their Worlds team or are they just a touring team, I guess the same question can go for the China and Slovania teams...?

From the BA article, China and Slovenia field their U19 teams and the USA team is composed of college graduates, fairly older group than our boys.
IMO this is a good preparation for them, with lots of learnings. From what I hear our bigs have started to come along and that could be one of the reasons why they kept improving. It will be interesting to see how they will go tonight against the USA.

The boys had another strong game last night - 82-74 win over the USA.
The last game of the tour tonight against Slovenia.

Is anyone going to post stats? Be nice to see how all the boys went.
Basketball Australia are the biggest joke ever when it comes to publishing any current news. It's days and days old. Anything on the weekend forget they just completely shut up shop. Every post they post on social media is basically a repost of other people's news. When was the last time they lead with a story. Non existant. Basktetball Victoria aren't much better. Shame

BA are seriously behind the times. On the Basketball.net.au website under National Teams, U17M, then U17M News you will find the following seriously outdated information.
http://www.basketball.net.au/category/u21-men-crocs/
Stacker named AIS men's head coach
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010
Wonder what Andrej Lemanis & Adam Caporn think of this?
Come on BA lift your game, get some up to date and relevant information on your website please.
Agree, not everyone has Facebook either, so that isn't where all the news should be directed.
They spent some time and effort, money too I suspect, on the BA web site recently, to make it glow and look colourful etc...
But what about the content, very poor, no leading stories worthy of our junior program other than the Dante Excum NBA draft material!

Dante excum that's all they ever talk about, what a shame they don't take half that much interest in the kids actually in their program.

Their un19 gems page on the website is from last year all those girls bar two are no longer in the program, the same with the boys , you would think if they went to all that trouble doing a new website they would at least have updated info on it.

There is a recap posted on the AusaHoops:
Australian U17 Men's Squad - China Tour Recap
http://ausahoops.com/australian-u17-mens-squad-china-tour-recap/
Vasiljevic named the MVP for the second tournament, unfortunately no stats available.

From what I read, people on here and Ausahoops and & Australianbball twitter know more about how the team went than the parents of the kids.
From what I hear the parents were provided with no updates, info, scores, etc from BA or the team management? Not sure why that would be?
Recent media indicates they won their last 5 games and have improved in each outing, well done to the boys, great preparation for the worlds.
