Big V - Half way done

At the half way point, thought I'd throw out the question, which teams have over achieved and which teams have been disappointing to date, based on pre and early season expectation ?

SCM -
Overachieved - Sherbrooke or Whittlesea ? In playoffs at the moment...
Underachieved - Bulleen ?

SCW -
Seems as predicted.

D1M -
Over Achieved - Blackburn/Southern Pen ? Not much was expected of either.
Under achieved - Mildura ? Two great imports, losing record (Although have hit some form lately)

D1W
Overachieved - Hawthorn ?
Underachieved - Southern Pen ?

D2M -
Over Achieved - Oakleigh ? First year in.
Under Achieved - Pakenham ?

D2W -
Overachieved - Mornington ? Didn't hear much in preseason, sitting 4th
Under achieved - Casey/Coburg ? Both sitting outside top 4.

Thoughts ?

All the talk up that was given to Sth pen div1 women preseason has left them with egg on their face definitely, though the loss of JLP hasn't helped, think coach has not the experience and possibly recruited badly but probably the biggest underachiever so far. The irony is la trobe energy women were touted as no chance this season without the Pearce sisters and an unknown coach and yet they are firing, the import they got is killing 28 rebounds 29 points last game!!! And plenty of new names getting a run unlike before. Grass isn't always greener on the other side.

You would of thought Sth Pen would of been the other way around with men on fire and the women making up the numbers. Its interesting the two teams that talk themselves up the most are struggling.

What is going on with Southern Pen. The men are flying, the women's team are all juniors who struggle with the big bodies and pace and the coach is definatley struggling, maybe too young to take a womens program too close in the age of the players, need some authority down there.

Agree ^ And too much made of Pearce sister , they at least has some quality players backing them at la trobe that is evident by how well energy are doing without them.

I think Southern Pen need to revisit there governance structure for starters and work there way down from there.They started to head in the right direction but this season have gone back to there old ways.

Interesting comment from "champ" suggesting the Southern Pen coach is too close in age to the girls, which is true but isn't he one of the Pearce's sisters partner ???

Cant get much closer then that.....

These situations are very hard to manage at the best of times let alone when your losing and in your first gig at a new club !!

Coburg did beat Casey but then had their arse handed to them the following week by Shepparton to the tune of 40 points and then also lost to the very lowly placed Wodonga team also.
