Bulleen coach Bowers under the pump?

Bulleen with the most stacked side in the competition are under performing after losing to Diamond Valley (who have struggled this season) and Ringwood by 1 point again this weekend.

They are now 3-4 sitting 6th and have now lost 3 games by 1 point. They have claimed to have the best depth in the competition despite Strong not suiting up yet but are continually losing games in the clutch.

Bowers must have some questions to answer.

Thoughts?

Went to the DV game and Bulleen just seem so undisciplined. Such a shame.

While there were some coaching areas, Bowers can't be held responsible for players throwing the ball out of court three times in a row or the team shooting 30%.

Liam had a shocker and Thadds 4-9 shooting from three was sugar coating their horrendous shooting and offense.

Good rebound game though to only lose by 1 to ringwood even if a low scoring affair.

MacDonald quitting the team and no Lester doesnt help either.

Not all Bowers to blame even if a few coaching choices left heads scratching.

What's Lester's hold up? Still injured?

Just wait too early in the season, they will gel when it matters.

Coach has assemble good players now all he needs is all them available and time to get use to each other.

Don't under estimate the other teams in the meantime.

Dont get me wrong, I agree that Bowers should be given more time. Especially with Strong being held up.

Sounds like paperwork clearing him to play has been held up in the States. Looks to be finished now and hopefully will play.

Bowers and Mike are good coaches, really need their on court players to really stand up. Besson going 1/12 over the weekend and some poor shot selection doesn't help.

The entire team missed at least a dozen wide open shots against DV. Coaches can't shoot for them....

Is he measured just on this season or are you including his multiple under achieving championship favorite teams in the past few years?

Getting players is one thing and coaching is another, it would appear that Bowers is a good recruiter and questionable coach at the SC level.

Not hard to recruit when your one of the only teams that has some money to pay players and knowing that you will be playing finals

a $.05 comment, in my opinion, I do not believe the coach would be under pressure at this stage.

Naturally that situation could change if the performances do not improve. Especially if they don't improve when Lester does finally take the court.

The Boomers performance on Saturday night against Diamond Valley was less than impressive.

Reviewing the game statistics it appears that the team had a "brain fart" in the last quarter, only shooting at 17% and their offensive rebounding was just a horrible number for the game.

All credit to Diamond Valley once they got a run on they certainly didn't let up.

For the Boomers some of the individual shooting percentages, for the key players, were definitely below par. (0-7, 0-1, 5-8 in 35mins) and (3-11, 0-6, 0-4 in 34mins)

While the result appeared to be better on Sunday, against Ringwood, although not achieving a win, a 1 pt loss initially appears much more respectable. However, looking at the game statistics again there are a couple of key players whose individual performances were definitely not at a championship standard. (0-8, 0-0, 0-0, in 23 mins)

Again offensive rebounds were terrible with only 5 for the game - definitely an area which need some improvement.

Really looking forward to seeing how L Strong and T Varmall work together on court, could change the entire dynamic of the team - for the better!

Let's not blame the coach if he hasn't be able to get the team he recruited on the court.

Unfair to make calls like this on a coach so early. Especially seeing he has not had Lester on the floor.

To he's credit not like he lost a couple of games and went and recruited Brett Rainbow or anything like that.

Looked hopeless against Diamond Valley. Karl Beston may as well of not been on the court, he was beyond awful.

Doesn't help when Bowers sits on his ass the whole time, while Estcourt (DV coach) is up and about, motivating players etc.

BIG game against Waverley this week.

Getting his team on the court...ha!, he is missing one single player.... !

Bowers is out coached regularly and Bulleen if they are a serious club that demands success and results would have to consider if he is the right guy to lead their program.

Championship favorites only 4 weeks ago remember.

Missing one player, just happens to be a starting 5 player and only losing 3 games by 1 pt!

If Lester is better than the current starting 5 and the word is he is "reasonably talented" player, then there is not much to panic about.

They had one bad game. Big deal. Lester will be the best center in the league when he gets settled.

Coaching style looks a little 'hands-off' and it looks like he was possibly out coached on Saturday night.

I saw this game, DV had their zone sets thoroughly scouted and none of the Boomers could get an open look as they were in a 3-2. No adjustments were made by the coaching staff, even when DV went on a 16-0 run.

That being said, I think Strong will help their cause.

Bulleen are still the team to beat. Teams have really come to play against them because they are the bench mark! Bowers is the best recruiter in the league after all the players they lost last season.

Best recruiter in the league is this a compliment or a dig at him as he has to recruit cause no one wantsa second year with him

Not a dig at all. He couldn't control a few of those key players from moving on.
Sturt-overseas
Simmons-overseas
Standerfer-Chelsea
Mike Rose-imports don't always stay.

To replace those players of that calibre with a championship winning list on paper is kudos to Coach Bowers.

What about some of the D1 coaches, the import quality this year is very good maybe a D1 coach might be the best recruiter, look at what Chelsea have done and La Trobe.

Bulleen Boomers take on an undefeated Waverley in the next game. Have been told Lester Strong will be playing.
8:00 PM / Sat 26 Apr at East Doncaster Secondary College (Bulleen home game)

Could be the start of a Bulleen winning run, all the way through to and including the grand final. Now wouldn't that be nice.

FUBR - Nice, isn't that expected??

THE BOOMERS WERE FAVORITES ALL PRE-SEASON AND SHOULD STILL BE.

Don't underestimate the ability for SC coaches to out coach Bowers...

Well I was prepared to give him the benefit of doubt but after watching him tonight he simply can't coach, sorry but he threw the game away for us tonight, badly coached and un disciplined.

Okay so the person who told me Lester Strong was going to be playing against Waverley obviously doesn't know s!"t. No excuses, it's getting beyond a joke!

Anyhow, another incredibly tight game. Would be great to see the Boomers come back from this...

Currently sitting way down the ladder, it will be a long journey back. From the game results so far they're definitely not going to do it if they don't get Lester on the the court soon!

What on earth is going on with when a player, supposedly forward, that gives up 4 fouls, 2 turnovers and only scored one basket and is still on the court 25 minutes?

When is Bowers going to actually set some structure and discipline in this group?

The offense looks robotic and stagnant, he sits down most of the game looking confused and only stands up to bitch at the Refs's.

Strange player rotations, clearly a rudderless team with a heap of potential.

They threw the game away sat night when they could have put Waverley away with just stupid and undisciplined basketball.
