Not sure you'd find a better SEABL import duo than Allen McCowan and Steve Miller (Albury mid 90's).

I remember the first game NW Tasmainia played in 2004 was against Mildura Mavericks , It was Shawn Rededge first game in Australia and he had 48 but the other import with him had 50 something then did his knee a few weeks later and was sent home , does anyone remember his name? He was a beast.

I remember the best import brothers in the 90s Jeff and Steve Delevega (spelling wrong?) did they play on same team. They played SEABL.

They could not play on the same team as there was only one ball on the court and they needed one each. lol

Lets go WAAAAAAAY back. Melbourne Tigers in the ?70's - Brian Goorjian and Bruce Palmer (awesome).

St Kilda - Rocky Smith and whoever - not sure if they had a second import, but with Smith you didn't need one.

AHOS, what year would that have been? I didn't realise it lined up and both those clubs had that pairing at the same time.

Was it 1982? I could be wrong but didn't Green and Loggins only play together for one season.

I'm surprised no one had mentioned Mark Davis and Bill Jones.

Adelaide actually had 4 imports on the 1986 team. But Al Green and Dwayne Nelson had become Aussie citizens in 1985 (I think Nelson did so in 1984).

From 1985-1988 there was no better PF/C duo in the league than Davis and Jones.

Other than those two, there have been (for other teams) James Crawford and Tiny Pinder, and Dave Simmons and Leonard Copeland - both of those pairings also won NBL championships.

And as much as I hate to admit it, this season Jermaine Beal and James Ennis have made a very effective import duo for Perth.

I remember watching Canberra Cannons in 1996 who had Rob Rose as an import and thinking their new unknown SG import looked like a better player.

Canberra's import pairing that year of Rob Rose and Darnell Mee was fairly handy and would have to be up there in any best import pairing discussions.

Definitely! They came within a whisker of the GF that year didn't they?

I know these combos didnt even play a full season but they won titles and would be awesome if you could have got them for a full season so thought id add them to the mix

Ere and Carrawell
Darden and Smith

My all time fav as a 36ers fan growing up in the Smyth Era is Brooks and Mee, I reckon that would be a tough combo to beat at any club and any era with there record when the 36ers had both on there team.

I'm not a sixers fan but have to admit I liked the Mee/Brooks combo. Best current combo is Ennis/Beal.
As a kid I remember Patric Fairs and Norman Taylor for Illawarra they were fun to watch.

Paul, I think Canberra got knocked out in semis by Melbourne in 1996, but they had a great import pairing that year.

Having Leroy Loggins (arguably the best NBL player ever) & Al Green (won the bay sheffield & was a scoring machine) in the same team is hard to beat.

Mark Davis in his prime was seriously scary and pairing him up with anyone was tough but with Bill Jones would have been one hell of a challenge for other teams.

Perth recruiting players to stop this pairing was one of the instigators of the Perth / Adelaide rivalry, which is all set to continue tonight...Go 6ers!

Ron Nunnaly & Kelvin Henderson had 115 points between them in one game for Woodville (Nunnaly had 86 of them in his first game with the team) and only played 35 mins.

Pretty sure it was 85 for Ron Nunnelly.

Cecil Exum once had 70 odd points in the SEABL too. So he was handy for some things other than being dunked on by Andrew Gaze.

Doug Overton and Melvin Thomas were a pretty decent import combo for the Hawks. Still remember one of Mel's first games where he took off from outdide the key near the baseline and dunked!

And as we all know Doug went to the NBA. I'm pretty sure he came out on a similar 'program' as Ennis - an NBA team wanted him to get some pro experience.

Should Brooks and Mee count? Sixers got done for salary cap cheating then. When you have 2 imports with NBA experience you know they are not playing for peanuts. Great combo though.
