Kings vs 36ers - Sunday 16th

Not sure what time it is been shown in the eastern states but here in WA it will not be shown until 11.20pm Sunday night. Ch 10 & ONE have the F1 shown on both channels at the same time during the day !!

Same time here...
Didn't even realise that, planned to watch it that afternoon but won't be able to see it now. Stupid channel 10/one! Why does the F1 have to be on both channels?

NBL.TV watch that

Go Sixers smash Kings and #1 public enemy Heal!

Remember the good old days when we booed the crap out of him at the Powerhouse.

NBL's newsletter email today says ch 10 nationally at 1pm but yeah TV guide has Formula 1 on both Ten/One all day with the Kings/36ers game not being shown until 11:20pm on ch 10.

I'd bet ch 10 might know more than the NBL do ;)

Disgraceful. I hope ten gets dissapointing ratings for the F1 as a result. Everything else has failed for them. Absolutely no reason to put it on both channels. Just arrogance.

There is a reason for 10/one to show the f1 on both channels. It has to do with anti siphoning laws. The rights holders to the formula 1 must show it on there primary channel which at the moment is the SD Ch10. They would also have contracts with the f1 that they have to show in HD as well, not to mention the hundreds of thousand aussie fans that would bombard them with hate mail if it wasn't in HD live. Unfortunately until the digital re-stack happens and the analogue signal is 100% gone this will continue to happen on all stations for major events.

hmmm OK - Well do they have to show the NBL game at 11:20pm though?? There's no chance they could have put it on at 5pm on One once the F1 had finished?

I get the anti-siphoning laws, but it just seems so unfair to the NBL being a minor sport with a bad TV contract. No doubt they would do this even if it was a grand final too. Its disappointing given that ratings have been steadily improving in recent weeks.

Oh well, used to it by now anyway!

Yeah, it's not just the F1, they then air athletics, the news, Have You Been Paying Attention, David Attenborough, Graham Norton, a repeat of the earlier Have You Been Paying Attention, to which the answer is presumably no because you didn't notice it was on hours ago...

Yes, but on One from 6pm they have MASH, Get Smart*, Million Dollar Catch, Hardliners and Extreme Fishing. Forget putting on Channel 10 at 6pm - put it on One instead of the crap they're planning on showing.

*Note: Get Smart isn't crap - I used to love that show, but my point of One putting on old and dated re-runs or shows with average appeal instead of an NBL game which they are obliged to show is still valid. Shoving it on at 11:20 on a Sunday night - they may as well not bother showing it at all.

Analogue finally switched off in the last two centres Melbourne and Sydney late last year so why is it still around?

What a game this will be. Kings out of the 4 as the Gongers time their run home to perfection. It's like cooking the perfect steak and Gordie is the tong master.

There's been plenty of instability this year at the Kings with imports, players etc etc Just when you think they have found there mojo, a hand grenade lobs into the middle. four losses in a row is the form they carry into this game. It's like they are deliberately losing to tease the Red Fox and saying "take our spot in the 4 if you're good enough"

The Kings actually play well against the Sixers. Olgivy's physical presence around the boards has been a problem for the Sixers with Young playing more like an NBA player than some of the other more fancied players in the league. Madgen from outside the arc is always a problem for any team.

Perth supporters reminded us all that Perth was just going through the motions in last night's game after their loss (they looked pretty serious to me!) The same could be said for the Sixers in this game, but really?

The Sixers have no pressure on them to win the game except to carry form into finals. I hear Gibbo is sore, but OK to play. It could be an opportunity to let "Crocodile Cadee" shine in front of mum & dad. The pressure is all on the Kings. How have they responded to pressure all year?

They might lift, then again.......

Adelaide will probably play their starters similar or even less minutes than Perth game while Sydney are desperate and playing for their season.
Still I hope sixers get up and thump Sydney.

Not to mention One HD's coverage of the F1 finishes at 7:00pm, but naturally Ten prefers to shaft the NBL to 11:20pm in favor of (I kid you not) 90 minutes of fishing shows and an encore of Bondi rescue...

What a freaking joke of a network.

I have no problem with them not showing it live as they pay a lot for F1 and its a one off (also a fan of F1, so take that for what its worth). But they should replay it earlier.

Onto the game, we are playing very well so far.

Kings win 100-90

Disappointing result to be up 12 at Qtr time and lose by 10.

Thankfully we won't be playing the Kings in the playoffs because we really don't match up well them.

Will be interesting to see how sixers and tigers approach next weeks final game against each other.
The game itself will be a dead rubber but both will face off in semis straight after.
Perth could end up in same scenario v Wollongong.
Cairns and NZ both eliminated.

Carfino & Rosen said that NZ still can make it if they win and other results go their way. They said if NZ, Syd & Woll all finish with equal records NZ will go through.

Carfino & Rosen have no idea. NZ can only tie SYD or WOL on 12 wins and WOL SYD already have 12 and play each other one Friday night so that means one of the two teams gets another win (their 13th). Pathetic commentating, no fact checking at all.

I noticed that ESPN are advertising and one of the sponsors at the Kings game today. Does that mean they may be interested in the rights in future? NBA, NCAA & NBL all on the one network would be handy.

Rosen and Carfino - while poor commentators who did their best to enjoy the viewing experience of today's game - said NZ were still a chance before today's result was decided, so they don't deserve that criticism.

It was so difficult to listen to the announcing of Carfino and Rosen for todays game. It would be a difficult task but they have to remember that there are listeners from all over the league watching and listening to there discription of the game. At todays game, the two announcers were discribing how great of an effort Cody Ellis' missed shot was while Schennsner dunked the ball on the return after the miss. Luke got a luke warm mention.

It was great to see that Teys got rested a lot.
He definitely is the X factor for the finals.
The only worry is that with Kobe out for the rest of the season, Lakers are looking for a replacement.
And apparently Phil Jackson is on "vacation" in Australia...
Now, if you put 2 and 2 together.. (for Tornado's benefit only - it makes 4)

Wonder how much of this result was missing Gibbo and backing up on the road, and how much was the 36ers not being able to fire up because they felt like they'd won their big game for the round.

It'll be interesting to see how they approach this next Tigers game given Melbourne will be the semis opponent. Test them out but don't go so hard as to risk injury? Try to get confidence from a win? The team will always say they're about the win no matter what, but the mental side of things can be less in their control, I suspect.
