You can't be serious with Lavey being picked? She doesn't get off the bench for Bendigo. Same could be said for Scherf at Dandenong. Always some interesting selections when these squads are picked.

Blicavs is a potential Opals starter in the future. She should be there.

Averages (Bendigo)
Lavey - 1.5ppg, 1 reb, 1 assist
Blicavs - 8ppg, 4 reb

Lavey makes the squad, Blicavs doesn't?????

I understand they play slightly different positions but Lavey isn't a contributor for Bendigo so I can't see how she gets a nod and Blicavs doesn't.

Thompson? Bunton? Another 2 from Blicavs age group not listed.

Bunton? ROFL!

Thompson does seem an unusual omission though. Then again it is not the gazillion-player sized squad we've seen in the past so there will be some unlucky ones.

Why is it funny re Bunton, she had size and strength, surely can only get better with age. Thompson hasn't had a good season so far but I believe through illness.

Scherf is only 17 yo. Smashes everyone else her own age. Future prospect. Great opportunity to mix it with our best.

CHOOK
Years ago

The Olympics are still another 3 years away so the coaching staff for both the Boomers and the Opals need to look at what is potentially going to be a part of their squads at that time and start developing them now. Its a great way to to get these younger players in who will potentially play roles and fill spots for our senior teams at the next Olympics and start pumping into them the structure, playing style, philosophies, focuses etc.

Those appointed in the coaching roles for both the Men's and the Women's programs are there for a reason, because they can coach! There is a reason that people on this thread aren't in those shoes.

Talbot injured out til Feb. As for Thompson there has been no illness this year, she has just fallen out favour in Townsville & has not progressed at all from last year.

Really, heard she had been very sick and the grapevine said hospitalized at one point, tho don't know with what. Don't rate her too much, great junior but not sure about ability with the big girls

Thompson has been ill. Chest infections, not being able to train quite a bit. Not sure why you would say there has been no illness..?

I live in Townsville & the chest infection that you refer to was well, well in the past. Thommo is completely over that by now. Thommo has not progressed this year but has suffered from lack of court time & the influx of new recruits this year. She must make a bigger commitment at the defensive end to earn more court time in this team

Great kid but has always struggled to be a team player in my opinion.

There are quite a few omissions that are good enough to be there.
