Apart from being a disadvantage for not having them as long as other teams..

I guess if you pick them up mid season you can pay them more per game.

Standard season of 18 games x $400 = $7,200
Half a season of 9 games x $800 = $7,200

Would be a lot more attractive offer for a high profile guy like Adam Gibson who can then take some time off after the NBL season, then come back and close out the season.
