Rhys Martin back on court for Hawks tonight

Crucial Hawks PG Rhys Martin is back as of tonight in a pre-season game against the Kings.

Nine months after suffering a serious knee injury, the Wollongong Hawks court general officially returns to action in this weekend's home and away trials against arch rivals Sydney.

Great news for not only the Hawks but the whole NBL.
A great player who was the best Australian PG in the league at the time of his injury so will be great to have him back on court.
Hopefully he can slowly discover his form from last season.

Kings and Hawks are in double overtime! Carmouche and Forman have been the stars, with Ogilvy and Summers coming to the party late.

Clarke and Summers scored 10 points between them in just over two minutes and Hawks prevail 107-99 in 2OT!

Hawks - Summers 28p on 10/19 and 9r; Clarke 25p on 9/20, 6a and 2s; Forman 21p on 8/10, 4/4 3p, 5r and 2b; Coenraad 13p on 4/10, 5r and 5a

Kings - Carmouche 27p on 11/23, 10r and 2b; Ogilvy 16p on 8/13, 12r and 2s; Hill 14p on 4/14, 8r and 5a; Sanders 12p on 4/12, 6a and 5r

Summers only did it in 27 Minutes too. Good signs I can see why Wollongong took their time signing him

Damn I am excited for this year.

This must be the best group of imports we have had for years?

It's kind of validating all the talk about players starting to prefer Australia over the European leagues.

Summers(MSU) Clarke (Butler) Ennis (LBS) Beal (Vandy) Johnson and even Pace (Syracuse) all did some incredible stuff at some big name schools (Johnson's school the only exception).

Even the likes of Carmouche, Sanders and Conklin put up some nice numbers in D1. (Conklin and Carmouche especially as they went to big schools)

The import talent pool is so deep this year that its almost easy to forget that we still have the likes of Ervin, Wilson, Lazare, Frye etc to factor in.

The whole league looks very strong this year.
To go with the stud import class, you also have some terrific 'local' players coming through.

You can really see the build up over recent years as the Aussie dollar got stronger:

Ervin, Wilson, McKee, Deleon, Clark, Wilkinson, Lisch, Jackson, Simpson, Warren, Braswell, Devries, Gill, Flynn, Scott.

That's a lot of good players with strong college resumes and/or proven performance in good leagues either before or after the NBL.

This year's crop doesnt have the experience of some of those guys but they are very talented with quality college resumes.

Given many of the NBL's best imports over the years have come straight out of college Im excited to see how these guys go once the real action starts and people are playing for keeps.

Man forman is just so deadly beyond the arc, he would have to be the best 3 ball ingame shooter in a while.
