Selection of MVPs at VJBL finals
Again last night there were obvious issues with the selection of finals MVPs at the VJBL finals. There have been many over the past few years.
A few years ago, a girl dominated a final at both ends almost single-handedly outscoring their opponents. Yet the MVP is awarded to a member of the losing team.
Last night, a player, who played minimal minutes as a back-up, was awarded the MVP over a player who dominated the game offensively and defensively.
There are, apparently, many other stories like these.
The MVP award needs to be either (1) scrapped or (2) the selection is better administered. The above situations should never happen. Either assign an independent person to watch the game, maybe liaise with the coaches before deciding who gets it.
Not sure who selects them at the moment but they are wrong too many times.
How can we make this situation better?
