Pre-season: New Zealand v Melbourne

First game was tonight in Christchurch and Melbourne beat the Breakers 83-80. Just glancing over the play-by-play it looks like a pretty exciting last quarter.

Stephen Dennis overcame a slow start to finish with 21p, 5r, 4a and 3s, Nate Tomlinson had 14p, 6r, 5a and 2s, Scott Morrison had 14p and 7r, Auryn McMillian 8p, 10r and 3b.

Kerron Johnson had 18p, Daryl Corletto 17p, Mika Vukona 12p, 12r and 2s, Tom Abercrombie 10p, 8r and 2b.

Tigers were without Chris Goulding and Lucas Walker, Breakers with Alex Pledger and Jeremiah Trueman.

Tigers won on the road, 80-83.

For the home team, Johnson had 18/3/3, Corletto 17, Vukona had a 12 and 12 double-double and Abercrombie had 10.

Melbourne was lead by import Dennis with 21/5/4 (9/20 FG) and also had Tomlinson (14/5/6) and other import Morrison (14 and 7) in double figures. Morrison came off the bench while Wortho and Ballinger started. Macmillan had 8 and 10 with three blocks off the bench.

Breakers were missing Pledger and Trueman while the Tigers were without Goulding and Walker.

Wortho fouled out in 18 minutes while putting up 1/12 FG.

Interesting that Worthington fouled out but only 39 fouls called for the game. That's on par with last season calling stats.

Players reacting quickly to the changes.

What happened to NZ in the second half? Their accuracy died in the arse. Also, wow, Wortho, and people were worried about James Ennis' performance.
