Tracy McGrady retires from NBA

May still play OS.

Leaving open the door to play overseas, seven-time All-Star Tracy McGrady retired from the NBA on Monday.

"It's been 16 years playing the game I love. I've had a great run, but it's time for it to come to an end," McGrady said on ESPN's "First Take."

McGrady averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in a career that started in 1997, when he was drafted out of high school.

McGrady signed with the San Antonio Spurs in April after working his way back from injuries but never got on the floor for a team that made a run to the Finals.
Should McGrady make the NBA Hall of Fame? ESPN 5-on-5 discusses.

He shouldn't be h.o.f imo was a great scorer early on but never got out of first round playoffs (not counting spurs 2013). Could end up In China?

never forget his heroics in that Rockets Vs Spurs game that he carried his team to victory in the final minute or so.

I like T-Mac, but do not consider him in the HOF class.

Reputation for a lazy practice work ethic too and had back spasm issues too frequent.

An offensive machine no doubt with a failure to go beyond the 1st round of the playoffs prior to 2013.

Still an entertainment machine in the modern era.

Given the lack of talented teammates in Orlando and the talented, but oft injured support in Houston (let alone T-Mac's own injuries), I think judging him based on 1st round exits is pretty harsh.

Probably isn't HOF-material, but his scoring title(s) and moments such as his '13 points in 33 seconds' are hard to look past.

If Garnett stayed in Minny, would he be a HOF player?
Take a look at who T-Mac had the pleasure of playing with.... it's a joke.

Kobe was a first round exit when he had the loser squad to carry, T-Mac took his teams as far as they could go.

He is HOF. Only he and MJ averaged 32 6.5 and 5.5 for a season. Elite company.

"He's a scorer and thats all" Wow.

Dude dunked on the Admiral with a drop step. Get him in just for that.
