SEABL Finals

Mt Gambier v Nunawading
Hobart v Kilsyth

Bendigo v Geelong
Dandenong v Sandringham

They are the match ups for the first week of finals.

Would be good to hear peoples thoughts on the contest.

For me the winners are

Mt Gambier, Hobart, Geelong and Dandenong.

Mt Gambier in a close one
Kilsyth to get Hobart
Bendigo in a close one over Geelong ( game of the round.)
Dandenong to easily account for sandy

I must say early in the year it looked like the east were the stronger conference but in the last month or so I feel the winner might come from the south either MT G or Nuna as both have goods records an the form from the top south teams seems to stack up on paper a lot better.

Geelong travel to Bendigo for what could be match of the round for me. The Supercats will have a fit and complete squad this time around and if they stick to the game plan should come home with a win...

I think the eventual SEABL winner will come from this game, no disrespect to Mt Gambier or Nunawading, but I believe Geelong & Bendigo have proven to be the best two teams in the competition this year!

In the women, Dandenong could win the lot...

Are Ballarat Men in the SEABL finals? Oh no that's right they only won 7 games.

Hobart Vs Kilsyth will be an interesting one. O'Hea didn't play last time they met a few weeks ago and could be the X factor in this game that may get them the W.

Bendigo have to be favourite to beat Geelong and go onto win the whole thing!
The experts seem to agree, Harvey stating this week that they had been the better team all year and Short having grave concerns about Geelong (again). How can they miss with the big 3 of Ferguson, Garlepp and McFarlin, the best team money can buy?

Dandenong should be to strong for Sandringham but they do match up well and could cause an upset. Likewise Hobart at home should beat Kilsyth but the Cobras have better form going in. Both games will make for interesting viewing.

Mt Gambier v Nunawading should be a cracker! Both teams are stacked! several NBL level players (past and present) in what will be a packed house. Emotions should be running pretty high. The match ups are mouth watering.
Daly v McDonald
Burden v Shepherd
Hill v Greer
Robinson v Conn
Allen v Cameron
Warbout v Gonzaga

Just think the experience of Nunawading may get the over the line.

Burden, Harms and Mercer all missed final round of season. Would really hurt if any of these guys miss 1st week of finals. All 3 teams would most likely lose if these guys are out.

Pioneers to get up, hopefully! Big games needed from Mt Gambier starters if they are to get through the whole finals series and win.

The Specters are a MacDonald is a class act and Conn has been good. Ben Allen needs to step up, had a shocker last weekend needs

Pioneers get the win by 10. Bourdon didnt play. Hobart thump Kilsyth. Pioneers with th week off and then a home south conference gf against the winner of nunawading and Hobart game next week.

Pioneers will win it all!

pioneers may well be beatable but no one seems to be doing it, of it late! Perhaps they will get some credit when the win it all and we can stick it right up all the big profile, big budget clubs!

Yeah, Hill, Daly, Robinson, Allen, Burdon, Warbout, Sutton all playing for free... Please.

Great wins by Mt Gambier and Hobart.

Daly breaking even with McDonald was huge. As was keeping Conn in check.

Polk, George and Gregg back to normal form but Armstrong was icing on the cake! Several Kilsyth players completely failed on the big stage.

Think the south is pioneers to loose. Re the budget comment pretty sure you are flying guys in an out and they ain't playing for the pioneers because its the cultural Mecca of Australia.

Dandenong v Geelong semi final not going the Lady Supercats way late in the game. Girls are relying on top 6 players and just not shooting well enough at the minute!

Supercats choked last weekend. They blew the chance to have a home final. It certainly appears that Jamie is ticked off. Something about a level playing field.

Its not a choke just because you don't win - last weeks game was on Knox's home court, Sean Carroll was playing game #300, while John Philip & Mick Hill were both playing their last game before retirement. You don't think that just maybe Knox had something to play for and were determined to do the right thing by their guys?
And Knox did beat Bendigo by 34pts at the same stadium - is that a choke also or just outplayed on the night?

Glad you found some genuine reason the Supercats lost.
Playing for top spot, and a home court advantage is clearly less meaningful than the Knox reasons.
So what were the reasons they lost last night?
Their form should be peaking not declining right about now.

What was the reason Bendigo lost last week? Win & secure top spot but they lost and risked dropping to 2nd so do you accuse them of choking?
Maybe Geelong would rather not have a week off and play with momentum heading in the final? No idea about last night - wasn't there so can't comment on the game.

Dandenong now travel down the highway to play the Supercats at the Arena next Saturday night, should be a cracking game, remember the buzzer beating 3 to win the comp. last year..?

Bendigo held their nerve and their star players got them over the line last night while a couple of Geelong's key players got into early foul trouble, which didn't help them, notwithstanding the fact they missed at least 11 straight points right at the end...

East is still alive!

Knox appear to have no visible weakness. When they all fire are a machine.Don't think foul trouble would even worry them too much as the bench maybe able to hold their own well enough

The only thing that will stop Knox is the curse on their women's team! Emma and Holly couldn't get the job done as favourites, Holly and Hibbert couldn't get the job done as favourites. They were favourites against Dandy, favourites against Southern Districts. Never can finish the job! Let's hope this time is different- GO RAIDERS.

Game Wrap:

Pioneers out play Nunawading who had a tough shooting night.

Bendigo tough out a solid win against Geelong with McFarlin proving his worth.

Hobart easliy account from Kilsyth with a dominate performance.

Dandy were down early but thanks to Montreal for keeping them in the game allowed there class to get them overthe line in the second half, Sandy did put up a good fight.

Next Week:

Geelong to get Dandy but it will be a tough game as Montreal is a touch match up for Geelong!

Hobart to cause an upset and get Nunawading as Conn's numbers have fallen away recently and i think Nunawading are vunerable.
