great Jonny Flynn piece at Grantland

Jonathan Abrams has done some great pieces for Grantland and I really liked this one about erstwhile Tigers import Jonny Flynn.

It features a quote from Chris Anstey:

"He would have benefited from the continuous playing time over the course of a season, and the ability to run a team for extended minutes," Anstey wrote in an e-mail. "International defensive rules were new to him, whether playing it or attacking it, and he got better as the season went on.

"His offensive skillset is NBA-caliber, but he needs to continue to work on his defensive game. As great as Syracuse is as a basketball program, it certainly doesn't create the best defensive man-to-man habits in its players for when they become pros."

Interesting article. NBA careers are so much more about timing and situation than pure talent for the middle of the run players. So man similar types have carved out 10 year careers and really just been insurance pieces throughout there careers come playoff time. Flynn definitely been black listed.

If he decides for dual citizenship, will he be eligible to play for Australia NT?

Like Kyrie Erving, Flynn represented America in FIBA U18 tournament before.
