Standouts from someone who watched the men closely all week...

PG. Angus Glover - NSW Country - Grabbed 30 steals (1st), averaged 3.8 assists (4th), controlled the tempo of every game the Champions won. Calm and collected. Constantly found Cherry/Maluach in the right spots. Stood out in his ability to control/dictate the tempo in any situation; fast against slow teams, paced against fast teams.

SG. Gabe Hadley - Tasmania - 1st in scoring, 1st in FTM/3PM, undersized for a shooter at the next level, quick first step. Clearly had the green light to shoot at the tournament and cashed in on multiple occasions from deep but the 32% from the field and 27% from downtown aren't the best percentages.

SF. Will McDowell-White - QLD South - Averaged 6.4 assists (1st), 16.9 points (4th), 9.8 rebounds (8th). One of the three big standouts from the tournament. Unstoppable when attacking the rim. Body of a wing man with the vision of a point guard, evidenced by his leading the tournament in assists. If he develops an outside jump shot, the sky is the limit.

PF. Harry Froling - QLD North - Averaged a beastly 16.5 rebounds (1st) and 20.6 points (1st). An animal on the glass (given his sisters' efforts at the U18's, it appears to be a family trait) and ran the floor better than any other true big man at the tournament. Nearly single-handedly carried Q-North to the Semi's. More of a C than a PF, but would've been criminal not to have him and the next bloke in the team together.

C. Isaac Humphries - NSW Metro - Averaged 20.4 points (3rd), 12.4 rebounds (2nd), registered 16 blocks (2nd). Would've likely finished top of each category only he averaged almost a full quarter less than the (most) leaders as Metro would bench him during blowouts. A true centre. Has a nice soft touch around the rim. Runs the floor well, but not as fast or comfortably as Froling. Does the majority of his damage on both ends of the floor in the paint, which was exposed by NSW Country when they essentially ran "small ball" against Metro and forced Isaac to guard a shooting big away from the rim. Considered a lock to play in the NBA by most leading scouts at the event.

Honourable mentions:

Myles Cherry - NSW Country - Reliable, solid, evidently the leader of the championship team.
Adam Lulka - NSW Metro - Constantly registering higher PER's than Isaac Humphries. Described by his coach as a "late bloomer" to elite basketball but certainly looks to be a part of the NSW program for a while.
Taj Fleming - WA Country - Averaged a double-double, almost always recording a good PER.
Makuach Maluach - NSW Country - Awesome fast break dunk in the final. Caused problems on the glass for the taller teams.

Fair call scout, statistics are often equal to court time, opportunity and coaching confidence in a kid at this age don't forget. Many talented kids that were ther will be coming out in a couple of years, still developing or growing I'd imagine. But you have included the main stars I guess (statistically speaking). Many of the kids mentioned also featured quite high in turnovers, fouls and not passing the ball to team mates.

Fair analysis, anon, but how do . In the cases of the above, however, Gabe Hadley was the only one who really took the ball out of teammates hands to the efficiency detriment of his team. Glover was a good passer, McDowell-White would've averaged a triple-double if his team could shoot (he passed too much for someone with his skill level) and Humphries was the best passing centre there.

Naturally, the ones who (rightfully) get the most touches will commit the most TO's so I'm not overly concerned by that.

There were a few others who could've warranted honorable mentions, but in this particular age group, make no doubts about it that McDowell-White, Froling and Humphries were a long way ahead of the rest of the pack for a national look in.

Like you say, I'm sure a couple of bottom-aged players will step up next year as top-aged players in the group, but they didn't emerge in this tournament.
