Best Boomers or Opals coach?

Looking at the quality of players available from the 1988 Olympics to the 2012 Olympics, I wondered how much difference the coach actually made.

If you want to go by results, it seems that Barry Barnes was the best Boomers coach ever. Much as some people love Brian Goorjian, he didn't achieve as high a position. Not did Brett Brown.

So, taking into account players available, the strength of the opposition, etc, who WAS the best Boomers coach from Lindsay Gaze onwards?

Similarly, who was the best Opals coach in terms of getting the best results from the players available?

I would say Brian Goorjian. We had some fairly pittiful teams in the mid 00's which he made atleast competitive

Barnes. Results based. Amazing how we had a fairly decent position in world basketball and we now have slipped considerably.

Any coach who could have a player like Bogut fit and playing consistently for the Boomers would automatically become a great coach if win/loss is the main criteria...

The only reason we had a decent ranking previously is thanks to a grey haired, unlikely looking star baller.

That man was the heart, lungs and liver of our national squad.

Haa!!! The gall blander stone ( in respect of it being really REALLY painful when waiting for it ) to pass was Shane Heal , if we had played a true point guard in 2000 the boomers would have had a medal.
