Markovic to sign with Townsville

From Boti today:

DID you know that D - while standing for "dumped" in this instance - could also stand for significant development in Townsville where the club soon will announce it has signed point guard Steven Markovic for three years?
Snatched from Melbourne, it seems.

Still, not sure what happened in Serbia...

Is that DJ turn basketball scout Rod?

What's the scout on Markovic? The only time I've ever seek him was in green and gold, where he was quite disappointing. Who here even watches Adriatic?

Great signing. Has the potential to be a top 3 pg in this league. What's his attitude like these days rod?

Markovic is a better all round and consistent player than Bruce.

He is very much a traditional pass-first PG, but with a very good perimeter shot. He is not as quick as Bruce, but is far better at taking care of the ball and not turning it over.

Will be interesting to see how he goes in the NBL given his time over in Serbia. As Mick stated, he could be one of the best PG's in this league next season...

Pure PG with legit size is always good. Will enable us to run small ball lineups with PC, Norton and Mark without giving up too much defensively.

Where is the money coming from to secure these players? is the community model finalised? I've heard that an offer was put to Nevill but it wasn't substantial enough.

How close is his skill level to Adam Gibson? Haven't seen him play since he played for aus quite a number of years ago. Will they not go for an import PG now that they have secured him?

Markovic is not at Gibson's level but should be one of the better PG's in the NBL.

Comes much cheaper than Ervin, but obviously not as good. Doesn't seem to score much so he would need to provide some Damian Martin style defence to be anywhere near the best PGs in the league.

Let's hope he doesn't walk away from his contract mid season too.

Good veteran pickup - perhaps frees up more cash to throw at Nevill and get a guy like Shane Edwards cheap at the import spot

Cant see him being top three, PGs in NBL are definitely a step above Adriatic as general rule.

He is a good player that is it, nothing special, solid at best. Very overrated by many on here, he will be a good role player for the Crocs. And he only played in Europe due to his euro passport, if not for that he would of only played in lower level comps like the Swedish league like Carter.

Before he was sacked he was the back up PG on his team in Serbia.

Markovic's agent said in this morning's paper that it's no sure thing. They have been talking with the Crocs and another club. He also said the Crocs have been enquiring about Mirko Djeric.
