Breakers considering Lazare as import PF

Looks like NZ have given upon Fotu leaving the University of Hawaii early and have now set their sight on Sydney Kings former Import PF Darnell Lazare as backup for Mika Vukona.

Don't understand why will Hudson wasn't retained, did some good games off the bench.darnell and heal had a lot of problems off and on court.be. A good pickup for NZ

I agree, Hudson was very serviceable and his energy off the bench was great. Possibly wants more money. 10 point player is he?

No both Hudson and Lazare are 9 point players.

Hudson is a 9pt player same as lazare. Pledger is locked in at centre. Lazare would be a good pickup for NZ. Only my opinion but melb,Perth or Townsville could be contenders for Hudson?

Personally I think the Breakers could get a better import 4/5.

Lazare considering the problems he had with the coach played bloody awesome at the end of last season.
Can't see anybody beating the breakers if they nab him

He's a plus for there offence and runs the floor well , gets blocks occasionally , lob city with him, abercrombie & Te Rangi

"Can't see anybody beating the breakers if they nab him"

Was this your first season watching NBL? The guy is no star in the league and has really bad games. Very inconsistent player.

"bloody awesome at the end of last season."

8ppg at 31% in the playoff's is awesome?

I would prefer Hudson who is much more efficient.

I would have thought Hudson with his extra size and ability to match up 4-5 behind Pledger or Vukona would have been of more benefit than as you say an inconsistent 4.

Team is better with Hudson

A frontcourt of:

Abercrombie/Te Rangi
Vukona/Hudson
Pledger/Hudson

At the end of the day, an import 4 is going to split minutes with Vukona.

Hudson was perfect in this role.

Only explanation can be that Hudson was demanding too much?

Or

they are trying to fit players under the salary cap and need to spare 10-15k somewhere, and they know that Lazare will play for that smaller amount, but Hudson won't???

End of the season not the playoffs quote properly idiot

Is having a 9 point rating not star worthy?
That's more then corletto & bruton

The breakers want his high energy style of play , he's athletic

Hudson is a good player, but I'm guessing the breakers want a mobile bigman.

The kings wasted time & money on Lazare. Why sign him if your gonna start some dramas. Its his job to play & get buckets.

Stupid to offer Fotu any deal, he's doing well in Hawaii
Leave him be, he will come back to nz someday
Don't see Penney coming home at all

I think the option that he wasn't retained by breakers.was either he was asking for a pay rise and he was injury prone abit last season,Hudson would fit into Townsville or Melbourne easy.great 6th man off bench to rest a big.

Would love to see Hudson arrive in Wollongong and help rectify their rebounding issues

Hawks aren't signing an import 4 or 5. It's either a 3 if there's no good Aussie swing man out there. If there is then they will be going for a guard.

Hudson would be a perfect fit for Wollongong and probably within their price range.

Did anyone witness Lazare play defence?

Aside from the stupid fouls, missed defensive rotations and goaltending calls, I must have missed it...

Well said PlaymakerMo & that was a major reason for his issues with Heal.

Are NZ looking for a cheapish import scorer in the pf spot? that would make sense going for Lazare in that case, they may think with Vukona they have the defense covered and want a bit more scoring at times, hence going for a guy like Lazare, not a huge scorer overall but decent scorer/offensive player and you wont get a big time scoring pf on the cheap, so hence why Lazare is in the picture.

Would that be what they are thinking?

Stuff.co.nz expect Trumans signing to be announced in the next couple of days along with Darnell Lazare but NZ Herald seem to think Hudson will be coming back.
