Jo Hill signs with Lightning for a year

SUPER-FIT Jo Hill, a women's basketball phenomenon, will go around for one more season with Adelaide Lightning in 2013-14.

Hill, who turns 40 next month yet remains in the peak of physical condition, has captained Lightning for the past two seasons.

She will be gearing up for her 25th year as an elite player, during which time she has been a junior gold medallist for Australia at the 1993 world championship, played with the Opals at the 1998 world championship and Sydney 2000 Olympics, been a WNBL All Star and league life member and also won a Halls Medal at her beloved SBL club, North Rockets.

Fantastic news for a fantastic person and player. North are very lucky to have someone like Jo still out playing with their young players coming through. Hopefully some of her work ethic and dedication rubs off on them so they can see first hand what it takes to be successful.

Surely it was time for Jo to call an end to her fantastic career. At some stage the Lightning have to plan for the future & give younger players a chance to develop & play a bigger role in this team?

Why? If she is doing her role and performing at the appropriate level are you advocating discrimination based on age??

Actually it couldn't hurt having some of the youth being around her at training and see what it takes to perform at your best - it would be invaluable experience for them.

all good players - but we need to replace suzy and dig a couple more match winners up - if we intend on competing in top 4.

other teams recruiting big time

Look at our youth, surely there are young girls that could eventually step up
Into Suzy's role (not be her of course!), given half a chance.
