Adelaide Lightning / Next Coach?

Who should be the next coach of the Adelaide Lightning if Buckle heads out of town as expected to go coach the Bulleen Boomers?

You would have to presume Pritchard would get a go if they wanted to stay local. Hearing strong rumours Batkovic is gone though, possibly announcing her future team this afternoon

I personally would like to see Pritchard given an opportunity if Buckle moves on. Has certainly done his apprenticeship with Norwood ABL Women, SA U-20, Oz Junior Teams & now Asst with Lightning. Would have to be considered the best local option (other than Jan Stirling) if the position becomes vacant?

need coaches involved with the national senior programme to stay a force and attraction to upward mobile players.

depends on a lot of things -

budget
expectation of fans / management
other applicants

wouldn't brian angler want an australian base if he gets the opals jobs ? now we are talking...

wage / conditions
players that want to play under coach

i would like to see the list and pick from that rather than single out someone from the start

It's Agler btw (not Angler)
That would certainly make things interesting, especially considering has has coached Batkovic, Bishop and of course Lauren Jackson.
He has a known penchant for veterans, so you could expect Screen & Hill to be high on his re-signing list. He might be interested in Sporn & Broges too ;)

Well there goes most of Boti's interest in the Adelaide Lightning ;)

In all honesty though, as good a player as she is this is not a lethal blow to the team. Injury-free seasons are rare for her, and I don't think it's unfair to say that her performances in the post-season haven't been too flash.
Building a team around one player isn't the way to go in this league so if the team spends wisely they'll still be in good shape.

^^Dunkin Dan^^ - Terrific points made. With the salary Batkovic was on the Lightning should be able to at least get 2 or 3 possibly good players to add some grunt to the front line. Lightning were very predictable to play against & we all know how the last 2 final series went.

I wonder if Batkovic choosing to go elsewhere places Buckle under further scrutiny as a Coach who burns bridges with his star players?

Lightning will be going back to a budget line up.

Slashing their playing budget.
