Victorian Juniors in the NBL, original club?

Heard an interesting comment the other day, that Melbourne Tigers Junior program only has one current player in the NBL come through their program, Daryl Corletto.

It got me thinking, of the Victorians in the NBL, where are they mainly from?

Horsham have 3 this year hitting the floor!

Very funny, you should ask Werribee where they think Corletto came from....

Lots of juniors played with different clubs throughout their career - in part due to the brilliant poaching of some groups.

It would be an interesting question to ask of the league in relation to single club juniors - such as the Horsham lads.

Horsham have a great development coach plus not much else to do in town accept play bball!

If you look at SEABL/Big V a few other quality players have also be produced by Horsham.

Doesn't look like Victoria can boast the same record at the moment. May change in few years, tigers may get at least 2 in the next five years.
Any in the league from Knox?

Dirty Sturty, thats good stuff actually. Pretty impressive, although if you read Anon's posts on the current SEABL thread you will find that ALL of those players actually got where they are today because of the SEABL.

I know Daniel Johnson played with Tigers in Big V but couldn't really get a look in with the NBL squad so went to Adelaide to play NBL.

Definetly the last Club I'd want to be at if you had any ambitions of playing NBL.

Horshams success rate is amazing - Mitch Creek, Aaron Bruce, Shaun Bruce, Shane McDonald.

The impact Owen Hughan has had on talented junior basketballers through Horsham to Country Vic to Hornets Big V and finally to NBL is outstanding.

It makes nearly all the big Victorian clubs look like failures in comparison - especially the Tigers.

It's interesting to compare what makes good juniors Vs good seniors players. Thinking about the number of VIC Metro or NSW Metro teams that win championships and those which go on to play professionally is small. Very similar to AFL where U18 VIC Metro teams were picking 17yr old with developed bodies to win the carnival but not developing many elite AFL footballers compared to players who needed to develop their bodies more.

VIC players playing professionally I can think of:

Andrew Bogut - Sandringham/Waverley/Dandenong
Daniel Kickert - Nunawading
David Anderson - Frankston
Daryl Corletto - Melbourne
Tommy Greer - Whittlesea
David Barlow - Sandringham???? - not sure
Ben Allen - Diamond Valley
Brad Robbins - Dandenong
Aaron Grabau - Dandenong
Aaron Bruce - Horsham/Eltham
Shaun Bruce - Horsham
Mitch Creek - Horsham
Rhys Carter - Sale
Adrien Sturt - Melbourne
Daniel Dillon - ??????
Owen Odigie - Dandenong/McKinnon (dev player)
Lachlan Winter - Sandringham (dev player)
Alister McDonald - Sandringham/Frankston (dev player)
Josh Wilcher - Sandringham/Nunawading (past dev player)

Some key college/young players at the moment (not all)
Ryan Broekhoff - Frankston
Matt Delladova - Maryborough
Anthony Drmic - Dandenong
Igor Hadziomerovic - Melbourne
Chris Patton - Dandenong
Taylor Dyson - Knox
Dante Exum - Keilor/Werribee
Ben Simmons - Knox/Keilor/Bulleen/Dandenong/Melbourne

It isn't hating when you're trying to prop up your poaching club in a thread about Victorian junior clubs. Your trolling level has dropped to a 0/10. Please stay on topic or do not post

Didn't he mention that they were all ONE club junior players? Pretty hard to be called for poaching for that then...

I find it funny to give him a 0 for his trolling, yet you've bitten. Twice.

Ingles13,

Haters gonna hate. You might need to go and have a look throughout your own club. Speak to all your juniors who have been recruited over the top of and then look through your senior teams for all the club juniors.

While your at it, name just 1 player from Forestville who is a 1 club player that has made it to the big time.

PS Its not Newley, he played interstate before joining Forestville.

Only 1 person derailing the topic.
