Next years Sixers

Other than the obvious coaching change, what kind of change ups are the sixers going to make? Which players are they going to re-sign and whos out of here?

Who knows?
Let's wait until we hear what comes out at the Feedback Session.
Who knows what budget we have available?
That could have a lot to do with things.
Just hope that we don't have another "3 Year Plan"

Gibson will be leaving IMO. Should we throw the house at Delly?

Yeah lets go after Delly. Because he wouldn't want that NBA or Euro contract he can get.

I feel like we have to try our hardest to keep gibson. He's been great for us. What about weigh?? I think he's out of here but what do you guys think?

Weigh is an enigma. He has the capacity to rip it up, but is he lazy under Marty's system? I think a different coach will bring the best out in him. On a DT points/min he is underachieving IMO. Compare him to Creek. You get excited when Creek is on court, you know something is happening.

The current squad is relatively strong. Crossy tries hard, but is just over the hill, SC has been a fish out of water and Pero can say he has pulled on a Sixers top.

I would like to see Cadee and Daly come off the bench. Cadee offers a lot, but a starting import guard is the way to go. Tommy D offers an energy that is required.

Creeky won't be available with his injury for most of the season, but he is a keeper. DJ has been criticised as being a soft as whipped cream, but I sensed a level of aggression in his game last round that he needs to prove his knockers wrong. As people have probably worked out, Peach is my favourite player and I would make him captain, or co-captain next year.

Luke should be retained IMO, but maybe off the bench? Massively under-utilised under the Marty system. Whenever he was passed the ball, he always seemed to want to pass off (as if under instructions) instead of slamming that little rock in the hoop.

People are talking as if Gibbo has already signed with Sydney. Would be a shame.

I would like to see a team like this

C Import/Schenscer
PF Johnson/Petrie
SF Creek/Weigh
SG Import/3pt specialist
PG Delly or Gibbo/Cadee

Coach Joey Wright

Free agents this season are:

Adam Gibson (option)
Nathan Crosswell
Stephen Weigh
Scott Christopherson

Pero Vasiljevic might be a FA as well, I haven't got confirmation about his contract details.

A lot will depend on the selected coach.

Agreed natwhereyouat, the new coach will be significant in what players we get. Like the idea of Brett Maher but more as an assistant. We need a proven NBL or the like type coach. I've never been a season ticket holder and live for my basketball. I feel more than ever that I should be for next season to support the game at what would have to be the lowest point for the 36ers. The coach and Adam Gibson being retained will be key to my decision.

Gibbo is gone unless 6ers pull something from their ass. They will need to get a coach that can win and retain and bring in some certain players if we have a shot at keeping him around.

Creek could be back in time for start of season. Injury recovery is 6-12 months. If he continues to get better as he has been its very possible he is playing at least in the first 1/4 of the season. Has the same surgeon as Petrie, who had him back in 6 months I believe.

Weigh needs to be given a few less minutes and a better offence to thrive in. Basically comes down to coaching for him to be a difference maker. Whether he stays or goes I don't think will be a decision most fans/players worry about.

Daly needs to be given some more court time. In his limited time this season he has shown time and time again he can handle the ball and play defence as required. Has shown ability to create for others also.

DJ just needs to get some mongrel in him and harness it.

Petrie. Keep him. Plain and simple. Has a good couple years in him to continue at his current rate I would imagine and just simply does all the little things we need, not to mention gives the team the much needed toughness we require.

Cadee will excel in a looser system I think. Maybe off the bench until he gets his confidence back up. Then again if he takes his game a step further in the off season that could be all that is needed to keep a starting role.

Luke just needs to see the ball in places he wants it and when he wants it. It seems a lot of his feeds are because the play requires it or because nobody else is open. Will be good to see him back to being a beast on the boards and being a double double machine.

We don't NEED an import. People always act like its the missing piece to a team, that's only due to the fact we have been used to having one or two each year, with them being dominate. Better to get core of the team sorted and maybe go after a shooting guard 6'6"+ who can shoot and get to the basket. With Creek returning and his ball handling improving a second import wouldn't be required. We are strong at 5/4/3/1 spot if we can keep players above. Obviously we do need a solid 2 guard off the bench also, which is where it would be great to have CJ back in the lineup possibly

Wouldn't be completely unhappy if entire roster returned, obviously bar the import change.

If Gibson does leave, Can see an import 1 as a sensible option, or maybe put faith in Cadee and ask Croswell to be the backup veteran head ? Who else would be a better option? Probably be better of coupling that idea with a strong import combo guard.

Weigh is a decent player. Don't understand why people are slightly negative towards him on occasion. Like to see him develop his game even more as a 4 under a different coach. Again, would probably benefit under a better system for shooters.

Schenscher,Petrie,Cadee,Johnson are still under contract.
Gibson and Weigh out of contract and will seek move to another club,If those go we have room in salary cap for two quality imports.
Give Daly a contract
Crosswell ,Pero and SC to go.

Coach .....Bruton or Gleeson or Stacker.

We wont get Joyce or Wright(both need big salary and coaches contract of two years)
Give a coach one season with an option.

Delly needs to be the big target.

He should be given priority over Gibson at this stage.

Problems that I saw this year:

-Too many PGs/Combo guards: Crosswell, Gibson, Cadee, Christopherson, Daly.

-Cadee's role: I didn't really understand his role this year. He isn't a big-time distributor, so are the 36ers utilizing him as a scorer? In all but that one game where he went off for 20-something, I mostly just saw him bring the ball up and make the odd shot -- which Daly was doing for a hell of a lot less money. Is Cadee really starting material? Look at the quality of other starting 2 guards in the league..Lisch, Corletto/Bruton, Gliddon, Goulding.

-Lack of scoring from a SG. Ties into my above argument. The 36ers would be the worse in the competition (maybe 2nd last to the Hawks -- Demos) in terms of scoring from the Shooting Guard position. The two top teams have inside and outside scoring (NZ with Pledger/Vukona and Corletto/Bruton. Perth with Redhage/Knigh and Lisch). The 36ers only had a reliable inside scorer in DJ, but very little on the outside

-Coach. Self-explanatory.

-Lack of defensive stoppers. Gibson was really doing it all on his own. Good teams play defense as a team, Perth being the prime example. However, certain players really let down the 36ers defense at times..Only took a few weak links here and there. Compared with the Breakers who have the likes of Cedrick, Vukona and Boucher in their starting lineup!

I don't think we will get Delly. For his future prospects coming to the NBL is the wrong thing. Id say maybe replace Pero with a younger version such as Mitchell Young? Keep Gibo if and Petrie if we can. Crossy gone sorry. Need some pure shooters

Mitch Young would be an awesome pick up. Could develop into a great 6/7 man off the bench, and give us some more size and youth.

Delly isn't coming to NBL. Stop smoking meth people, it's bad for you.

On the court I'd like to see

C Johnson/Schenscher

PF Petrie/Warbout (or Weigh if we can fit him in the caps)

SF Creek/Hill

SG Athletic SG/SF (eg Dorsey)/Daly (Creek, Hill, Ervin to share the back up SG mins, Daly to play his minutes at PG)

PG Stud import (Eg Ervin)/Cadee

(keeping 7 guys who are in this years 12)

Coach: Dont mind trying the Maher/Arsego combo, out of other ex NBLers id go out of Gleeson, Stacker, Molloy. Hope they get it right this time which ever way they go.

Yeah, Get Delly. I reckon we should target Bogut and Patty Mills while we're at it? Hang on Newley and Ingles will probably come back for around $60K as well.

Shit we should win it all

If Schenchers injury doesn't come good, could we swap him out for Aron Baynes given his future at spurs isn't guaranteed?

Putting aside the fact we couldn't afford Baynes anyway he still has another guaranteed year left on his contract with the Spurs, plus a further two non-guaranteed years.
