R18: Sixers v Tigers

Sunday afternoon means another game for the Sixers and this time its against the Tigers. Melbourne beat Wollongong and snuck into the four at the Gong's expense.

A Tigers win will aid their playoff hopes, while a Sixers win will help Gordie and Ozzie's chances.

Hang on Gordie, the Sixers are here to help!

After Friday night's game I'm expecting the Sixers to start fast and be quite physical.I'll be interested to see how the referees call the game early.

I'm also hoping for another standout game from Schenscher, he was playing well prior to his fall and seems to have lost confidence since his return.

Fingers crossed for a win.

Oh dear, sixers lose the 3rd quarter by 15, all too familiar a scenario for this team. Offense completely stagnated in that 3rd quarter allowing the Tigers to score off of missed shots. Again, timeout and adjustements come far too late from Clarke

@NBL KINGS.....According to reports from the club, we are owed money by Unleash Solar and until that money is paid, their signage on the team shirts and at the Adelaide Arena has been removed. The clubs website is currently on most of the uniforms instead of the sponsor (though I did note about 3 or 4 on Friday that still had Unleash Solar on them, which is a pretty poor effort by the club IMO).

Sixers are starting to find different ways to lose. It's almost expected now.
They went about 0 for 10 firing 3 pointers (some of Adam Gibson's were just bricks)in the 4th quarter. I know they were in chase mode but it made a bad situation worse.
Congrats to fans for showing up. Not much to cheer about.

Not even Bevo, Lemanis or Goorj could coach a team to a win shooting 3/19 from deep and 18/31 from FT.

Can't complain at the Refs.

They did their best to give 6'ers the win.

Not their fault Sixes refuse to hit FTs.

That Walker call was 50/50....both were hanging on.

Feel sorry for SC...no one will pass to him for a shot.

I thought the umpires actually did a good job. The Daly foul was the correct decision. I also thought it was the wrong decision until I saw the reply as you see Daly grab Walker first trying to stop him from the rebounding contest. Also the sixers getting a huge discrepancy of foul shots was due to the different styles of play with Scott and Flynn out.

A great first half by Johnson its a shame that for whatever reason he couldn't continue it in the second half.

Gibson really needs to start driving more, that is where he is at his most dangerous. That way he can get layups, get to the foul line or create for others.

Tigers played with two of their best players only playing half a game and still beat us by 13. Unfortunately, the teams confidence is shattered by the worst coaching duo the league will ever have.

I really don't see us winning another game this season.

Good crowd , some promotion vide Adelaide United both playing Melbourne . Might be more crowd than an Australian International one day cricket match at the MCG.
Early in the game - freethrows : ADL 7/16 . Mel 0/1
Ballinger shot well .
Flynn and Scott sat the 2nd and ADL won that quarter comfortably . From there , with Scott and Flynn back on court and an easy win . In the end , Flynn did what he liked with Cadee guarding him .

Gibbo has been a massive disappoint this year IMO. His continual 3 point 'brick' attempts were embarrassing for a guard of his pedigree today. I really thought when we picked him up that he would develop in to the 'closer' that the 6ers were missing in the last 2 years but really he has disappeared & hidden in the last quarters instead of demanding the ball & making something good happen for his team i.e. Jackson or Ervin.

To me it was lost at the foul line, you cant leave that many free points at the stripe and expect it not to bite you on the butt. Just there alone we would still be in the game, let alone the extra pressure it would have added throughout the game.

Whatever get said at half time do the opposite.

Since our losing streak started, in 14 games, we've won the first half of games by a combined total of 5 points and lost the second halves by a combined total of 82 points.
This is including the 3 matches where the game was already over at half time (down by double figures) and made it somewhat respectable after half time (but were never in any threat of winning). Take away those 3 game and we've won first halves by 43 points and lost second halves by 102 points.
These numbers are quite telling. I don't understand how a team can be so competitive for half a game and be so uncompetitive for the other half so consistently.

The crowd was boosted by the $10 ticket offer. I know that's sure as hell why I bought 2 tickets to this embarrassingly funny team of ours.

What a rabble that 2nd half was! Clarke should only be paid half of his contract this season, because he only seems to be able to coach for one half.

Thank goodness Ballinger, Goulding and to a lesser degree (thanks to fouls) Flynn and Scott were playing, they made it worth the $10 entry fee. Great to see Balls sticking it to us. He kept them in it in the first half.

DJ actually surprised me and played harder on D today. I thought Cadee started well on Flynn, and the full-court D to get the ball out of his hands worked pretty well. He was frustrated early.

@marcus Camby reply #550. So would that be like super coach Bevo's team Friday night? After all they went 3/21 from 3's, and 67% free throws and 39% from the field. Umm just from memory they didn't win did they? Wow blows your theory out the water doesn't it. Ya Tossa

Let me guess, it's because the team gets booed. if you honestly believe that the reason we lose is because about 6 people out of 5,000 boo another pathetic effort, then you are really desparate to deflect the attention from who is actually getting booed, you and marty. While i HATE the fact that people would boo there own coaches, i for one would never do it, at least you will soon be enjoying Tasmania again and won't have to worry about it. Then you can revel in the fact again of how awesome you are at coaching and that it's everyone else's fault and not yours.

IMO this is the most disappointing season ever for the 36'ers.

Finally, I thought at the start of the season we had a team that could easily make the finals and that I would be keen to see a lot more than my normal 6 games a season (I have other weekend etc commitments and live in the country).

As it turns out I have not been motivated to see one game this season (other than every game on TV). I admire all those fans that have supported them.

Biggest let downs of the season for me are Schenscher (not good even before his injury), Gibson in recent times ( he could hardly hit the ring from outside even today) and Crosswell. Cadee needs help with his jumpshot, but shows some promise, Petri started the season well, but his finishing has deteriorated. Weigh is solid, but not a game winner.

Oh for the days when we had forwards who could dunk or hit threes and we had good shooting guards.

The "first five" have failed every time in the latter part of the game when often we have had a good lead at half or three quarter time.

Our 3 point and outside shooting has been well below ABL level, Weigh was the only person to hit 1 three in the last quarter when again a number of open shots were attempted. Maybe we need a specialist shooting coach.

We may as well use the best local players available (bench warmers) for the rest of the season to see who can step up and the fans can start to enthuse about for next season.

Mission accomplished.

Yes I am an armchair critic.
Yes I am sarcastic and make jokes at the 36ers expense.

But how the hell else can someone who is reasonably rational and sane react to the joke this season has become?

I think it would do more harm than good to be cheering for them at this point, patting them on the back and saying that they'll turn it around next week.

"Next week" should have happened two seasons ago, and voicing our displeasure is the only way the powers that be will get the message that it just isn't good enough.

The Adelaide basketball fanbase has been acknowledged as being about as educated as they come in Australia. And we know when the 36ers coaching staff and front office tries pissing on our boots and telling us that it's raining.

Jack Toft, (off subject, but gee they need some "shooting" help don't they)

I am intrigued. How do you know I had a brief shooting session with him in the back yard?

I only spent about 30 minutes with the other "Jack" just before his ABL breakout game against Forestville after which he was invited to train with the 6'ers.

He seems to be doing well in the US now however, but IMO would have potentially made a lot more money if he had persisted with Football.

Beekayz, and add Cattalini, Brookes etc.

Cattalini would come out with an assistant way before warm ups, start shooting tons of close shots, also practising one handed's , releases etc before gradually moving away from the ring, he was a great 3pt shooter.

One Div 1 US coach has all his players start every training session with close to the ring one handers.

Funnily enough, when the 36ers were 5-3 this season Petrie was shooting 50% from long range, and since he has made 4/19.

If the defence actually had to guard Johnson (whose dropped for 38% to 25% this season) and Petrie on the three-point line the 36ers would be a completely different team.

Marcus Camby, I am not trying to take away from those parts of your comments that are valid, but you misunderstand the point of 'hearsay'.

The hearsay rule would only prevent admission of the truth of Radford's comment not the fact of that comment. That is, just because Radford in fact said what he said, it does not mean it is true.

What you should have referred to is the inherent lack of credibility in what an anonymous poster may say on the internet. But that only goes to the weight to be placed on the evidence, and not its admissibility. It seems there may have been other witnesses, which tends to support the wieght of evidence, although those witnesses also seems to support the view that the first poster is a douche.
