Sixers Vs Perth

Gee. Anyone brave enough to tip the Sixers?

I picked them in my multi +11. I really think we could come out and beat them. Mainly due to our bigs - Schescher and DJ should be able to dominate Knight & Trueman.

Gibbo vs Martin should be good to watch.

I refuse to put any faith in the Sixers after getting creamed by Melbourne. Although they have done well against the Wildcats recently.

Their backs are against the wall for this game and really need to come away with the win, anything else will be unacceptable after the dismal performance against Melbourne. If we dont win today I'm afraid it (along with the Melbourne game) might be the beginning of a slide down the ladder for the 6ers. To be honest, I dont think we will win but I will be there to support and cheer them on to try and get them over the line!

There could be a 40 point swing in this game
The good 36ers will win by 20 , the bad lose by the same.
I cant see us playing that bad 2 games in a row. Problem is i cant see Perth having that problem either.
All in all i am sensing a cracker of a game.

Both teams are coming off 30 point loss, 50/50 this one. I do feel for the boys (cats) we havnt and they havnt played in front of there fans at all! To play 5 on the road nock down shot and they havnt heard a cheer yet! Bring on fri nyt! But wil be a gd game!

I couldnt possibly tip the 36ers to win based on their erratic play all season long. Like they are suffering bipolar. The coaching staff cant keep there good play going, and have no answers for how to turn the bad play around. I hate watching my team play under this regime. Clarek and Radford are full of fluff talk, but have no set strategy.

What does Matt Knight weigh? Like 120kg? And yet he's falling over like a fucking cardboard cutout of Rudy Fernandez. That older referee is so gullible it's ridiculous.

These refs make it tough to watch as usual but good work by our boys nontheless. We certainly look hesitant to use Luke after his shocker on Friday but DJ and Peach are getting it done. Love having Peach on our side.

Peach certainly brings a big physical presence to the 6ers. I loved how he went at Matt Knight with some verbals when Knight flopped on that charge call with DJ. Marty needs to find more & consistent minutes for Peach in the rotation.

Great to get the win but I don't think Perth could have played any worse. Having said that the Sixers weren't that far behind, playing badly them selves. The difference in the game was Massingale. His 18 points in 18 minutes was what won it for us. I have bagged Crosswell the last few weeks but he did well tonight. One good game doesn't make up for all the crap games he has had recently though.

Weigh was solid with 12 rebounds but once again was a ghost on offense and 5 turnovers.

All Robbins and Redhage could contribute to Perth was being the dirty thugs that they are. Why Tovey gets any minutes I don't know. The guy played 24 minutes and didn't even put a shot up.

It looks like Radfords voodoo over Perth continues.

The umpires were crap in the first half (lead always by the Weasel looking umpire) but in the second half they were better.

Great call by Bizzy with the line!

Great physical win!

Who would've predicted CJ to be the most important player. Outstanding defence from him and Gibbo (as usual) as well - I didn't know he had that element to his game.

Props to Steve Weigh for his rebounding today too - he was huge.

Final thought: Sunday afternoon games suck balls.

Good win, kinda makes the tigers loss even worse though. I was really hoping all those missed FT were not going to come back to haunt us though. Really glad to see CJ get it going and i though with his limited minutes Creek did a great job as well.

Peach is so much more valuable than i thought he would be, my mvp of the team so far considering his role v production.

Johnson and Petrie played well early in the game.
Weigh's shooting , turnovers and big minutes are pretty scarey . Crosswell and Massingale were great .
Schenscher and Creek's minutes - probably hard to find any rythum.

very interesting game

who would have expected CJ, Crosswell and Redhage to combine in the last quarter to keep Marty and Bro alive as coaches ?

I'm finding it hard to believe that against a team as height deficient as the wildcats , Marty can't find some more time for Schenscher in the final quarter of games is he really that much of a liabilty in Marty's eyes ? - has he any minutes loged at all at the end ?

NBL.TV didn't have the last 7minutes of the game. Gutted to see we won in what sounds a close game when I cant bloody well watch it!!

Perth's shooting was...well..it really saved us big time, at 3quarter time they had had 12 extra shots from out turnovers.

If anyone is a stats guro I would love to know what the difference is in the big man combinations used. DJ seems to score freely with Schenscher on the court, but struggles while Petrie is on. Schenscher also seems to be out of sorts with DJ on the court, probably more so in this game considering it was such a running game and that's just not his style. How ever Schenscher seems to be a better scorer with Petrie on the court with him.
Would be great if anyone has stats to confirm or deny what I am thinking...Im shit at stats so wont try lol.

Skud,

I dont need stats to tell me that today Luke struggled when on the floor early with DJ because he got into foul trouble guarding more than his own player..

Perth had a clear strategy of isolating DJ and driving on/past him, and they had the players to do it.

I reckon if Sixers fans followed the Wildcats they would routinely rip Tovey like they rip Weigh. Not enough stats, so he must suck, etc.

1-1 round isn't bad, as bad a loss as the first one was. Beating a fired up Perth team after having played interstate is solid. Credit due to the team for stepping up and the Radford info that keeps us more successful against Perth than other teams. Bevo must hate it.

Not many teams have been too consistent yet. Apart from Breakers recently and the Crocs.

Offensivley, Marty really needs to get his shit together. The only times Adelaide look good are when they run and when they get the high-low with Schensch and DJ. Other than that it's a bit of a shambles.

Cats fans do or Sixers fans do?

They'd rip Boucher too (can't shoot, etc) and he's a big reason the Breakers took the step up to winning championships.

Nice win by the guys.
major points were really bad offense at times including gibbo's brain fade undwer the ring with little opposition. wow! and he's an olympian. ouch
Cj stepped up to the plate which was good.
DJ maybe ought to spend some time at the free throw line this week.
Poor crowd but given the aircon never works, would u wanna second guess it and come only to find it was hot inside and outside?
2 winnable games coming up before the Kings at home. Perth is always difficult but winnable and the Crocs, if we cant beat them we dont deserve to make finals even though we are a long way out.

Isaac, Boucher found his place in the NZ team, when he got on court he was that instant defensive impact player who hustled, got steals and made things happen.

Weigh when he came to the 36ers wanted to be the 'captain'. He wanted to be the star, the player which got the most court time, took the most shots, got the most points. He tried too hard, he shot too many crap shots and made too many mistakes.

Fast forward to this year, he is playing within himself. I've actually being extremely impressed with his basketball IQ, the way he is playing. He is taking the right shots, passing up the bad shots and not trying to drive over three defenders in his face. His defence has been solid and rebounding has been impressive, especially against Perth.

Against Perth wasn't his greatest game, he got called for a charge, but it wasn't a 'trying to plow through the defense' type of charge, a few fouls trying to stop the shot which were a bit harsh, the refs were hot on everything in that first half. His shots didn't really happen but he still made a major contribution with his rebounding.

He's realising his role, he is realising what he can do, he realises what is pushing it and he looks like he is using his talent better, more efficiently and he's starting to look like that player he looks like he wants to be.

29-39 minutes 6 points 5 turnovers 11 or 12 rebounds
Pero could probably do that and maybe Creek could
Schenscher and petrie would.
These players will never get those minutes.
Schenscher sat most of the games , Johnson sat for a long period , while Weigh was the main big
and a bitta Petrie. Johnson might get close to those minutes , some game to compare.

Camel, Weigh stretches the defence with his ability to knock down the open shot from range at a good clip, allowing more room in the key way for the bigs and cuts to the basket. Creek and Pero cant offer that to the team. Weigh is also a better rebounder than Creek and Pero. Creek is a better defender though.

Schenscher was having a shocker and Knight was having his way with him at both ends of the court.....the right decision was made to leave him off in the last quarter.

Sometimes you have to dissect the game a little more, you cant just look at stats, there are a lot of other factors that you need to consider.

Exactly Tornado
People on here whip Marty if he doesn't leave players on long enough, or leaves them on too long, or plays them in the wrong spot or in the wrong combination
We win and people still go searching for things to bitch about.
We have lead the top 2 teams into the last quarter and now knocked off Perth on our own court which hasn't been done for a long time.
I wish people would start to enjoy watching good basketball again instead of being fixated on negative perceptions.
Weigh grabbed around 4 boards over the top of people that others had not boxed out. Petrie at one point took the other 3 to task and yelled "you need to box out too" when looking at the guards.
This team has a lot of talent and some nights some are going to play more than others. Knight was killing Luke and Luke hardly was a force offensively.
If Weigh was taken out and replaced with Luke this thread would be about Marty being an idiot for taking off a player who was doing well and replacing him with someone who wasnt.
Weigh has increased his performance this season against his career average in every stats category.

I understand the tone of the language here
I enjoyed DJ and Petrie early , Crosswell and Massingale late , although I mentioned that before.
I wasn't enjoying Weigh , I was really scared we were gonna lose with all those minutes , last season revisted and that's not pleasant ,
but seems he was playing really well.

With two minutes to play Weigh had three fouls and three points - in more than 27 minutes playing time. And his defence was ordinarly for most of the game, but yes, he got some boards.

Great to see Massingale actually receive the ball. From memory he hit the court only twice in yesterday's game and the first time in the other four players flat out refused to pass him the ball.

As for the bigs ... imagine what the team could do if our great development coach could actually get DJ to play at least some defence - maybe he could watch Massingale and learn something - and get Schenscher to take a little overhead push shot when he is facing the basket from 1.5 metres away. He just has to be able to do it ... or be taught to, though it's obvious a lot of good coaches have failed so far. As it is he is simply no threat when he gets the ball because he has no way to score.

As it was, he was so ineffectual yesterday, apart from some passing, I was looking for Marty to take him out of the game when he was there; not put him in for longer.

do we ever understand what Camel is trying to say?

on past games I have seen of CJ at the AA I wouldn't pass to him either, hesitant, not really wanting the ball, his last quarter yesterday may make his team mates re think that. Why in the past give someone the ball who gives it straight back and doesn't look to shoot.

Yesterday he combined well with Crosswell and see what happened!

Awesome to see CJ hitting his straps. Such a fun player to watch in the SEABL been waiting for someone to pass his the damn ball. I am sure I will get haters for saying this but think some aussie ball handlers not wanting to pass to him in fear of losing their minutes!
