Forestville Eagles U14 girls into semi. 7:30 @ MV

Thought this deserved it own thread since the event is in Adelaide.

Tonight at 7:30pm at Morphett Vale the Forestville Eagles take on the Melbourne Tigers in a semi final of the U14 girls club championship.

Both teams are undefeated, with Forestville only being challenged by Knox (won by 1) and Melbourne's closest game being against Sturt (won by 8).

Prices are steep ($15!) so make a day of it and come for Sturts 1:30pm game vs Canberra (playing for spots 9-12), Centrals playing Dandenong at 3:00pm (13-16 bracket), and Southern Tigers play Darwin at 7:30pm as well (5-8 bracket).

Coached by Jo Clark, Daniel Haebich & Lynne Holland.

That have done a terrific job so far. All the best in the Semi tonight.

Agree with Anon above. Why turn a positive thread into a hate-piece? There are plenty of those floating around already.

The Eagles girls have done a tremendous job, and in fact we should be proud of all 4 teams who are representing SA in this tournament. It has been a fantastic effort from all involved - the players, all coaches and assistants, team managers, parents and the numerous supporters that have attended the games throughout the week.

I hope the intention of this thread has worked, and maybe a few more people have headed out to have a look at the junior talent on show today. And if not, maybe tomorrow when hopefully we have an SA fighting for the gold medal!

Unfortunately went down to Melbourne by 18. Now will play Norths from NSW in bronze game.

Atmosphere was good. Good to see the Sturt girls cheering on the Eagles tonight.

Tomorrow:
Forestville play for bronze
Southern play for 7th
Sturt play for 9th
Centrals play for 15th.

Good luck girls!

Forestville were great, some really talented players and the best coached team at the Nationals (my opinion only of course), well done! Really enjoyable to watch the way they play and obvious why they've been so successful.

Great for SA, sturt and centrals would be disappointed ,but centrals lack of depth really exposed and copped a tough pool ! Centrals had 2 players who would have scored around the top end of points for the week in the comp but with not much support! Sturt really only played one poor game at the wrong time and suffered whilst southern took advantage of a soft pool by playing some great ball to deserve their finish ! Forrestville were all class all week! a great week of basketball by all concerned.

How about those Melbourne Tigers girls.....

What a great team. Well organised, well prepared, hard, tough and really a class above. Their defence was outstanding all week. How funny that Forestville thought that they would beat Melbourne, but instead got a basketball lesson from the best U/14 team in the country. Tigers then backed this up in the final against another undefeated team in Hawthorn.

Congratulations Melbourne!
