Hawks' Coenraad out for four weeks

A key member of coach Gordie McLeod's bench rotation, Coenraad has succumbed to an ongoing plantar fasciitis problem and been ordered to rest for four to six weeks.

The 27-year-old Queenslander joins teammate Tyson Demos on the injury list for tomorrow night's season-opening home clash with the Sydney Kings.
Demos planning on being back in action by round two.

This team gets thin pretty quickly. Is Davidson good to go against the Kings?

Thin? maybe.

They did tour NZ without Demos, Coenraad, Deleon and did ok there.

Played without Davidson for 2/3rds of the Blitz, Coenraad missed a game and Demos both.

Had a few preseason wins with neither import or Gruber.

I guess with no Demos & Coenraad, it means a 3 Guard rotation this week.. With the way Rhys has been playing in the preseason I don't think Gordie will be overly worried.

Time will tell

Kings should go in pretty wary of how tough the Hawks can still be, but you can't say the early pre-season wins for the Hawks were overly impressive, beating two very ordinary college teams (despite Brock Motum tearing up all opposition) and a couple of "rebuilding" NBL teams in their first games with limited minutes to key opposing players...

Their results in the pre-season tourny and against NZ were good, but it will be interesting come the proper season with all teams going full strength, how they keep up with players carrying niggles. Having two more quality imports will certainly help their case, though...

Gruber could get 30+ mins with LD out and against a weak kings interior?

NZ have never performed great pre-season. Usually win some lose sum then come right for the regular season.

I think Davidson's playing. Coenraad and Demos are reported as the Hawks outs.
