A tribunal. Now. Who is running the WNBL now with Lorraine Landon gone

Tom Maher may have opened a can of worms as it would be my bet that one of his own will be the next to face the tribunal if this trend continues.

Not surprising at all. Very physical player that often walks a fine line to being dirty. does not appreciate at all being pestered and closely defended.

Very much an "all about me" player who has been known to throw her shoes in the bin and not attend post match function after her BigV team was knocked out 1st week of finals

Jarry ended up with concussion out of the game and did not play in the final against Bendigo.

Was this from the same incident ?

Trust me Jarry is no saint & can be very abrasive in the way in which she goes about things on the basketball court but by all accounts Ardossi clearly instigated this incident!

So I was not there, not trying to infer anything other than ask an obvious question.

This is a club report by Bulleen, not a referees report ?

If this was not off the ball, why did the referees not make the report ? Or is that not the way the WNBL tribunal system works ?

Re comment from abc123 - well yeah, they take things pretty seriously down there in D1W !

Not quite sure why a WNBL player is playing D1, but that must be another story.

I wasn't at the game but from all reports, it was definitely worth a report.

In saying that, if a tribunal exists, how have Crosswhite and Musslewhite/Cosier escaped in there time?

Would the fact that it came from the club be because not all refs there were WNBL panel refs?

Bottomline is a player went down and could not gain consciousness for a good 10 minutes. This is dangerous stuff and if video footage shows malintent, the league must act on it to send a clear message.

The video shows two players coming together going for a loose ball. Both players reach the ball at the same time with Jarry knocking the ball towards the side line. Ardossi turns at the point of contact to protect herself, but because her arm is up trying to tap the ball contact occurs with her tricep/rear deltoid to Jarry's head causing her to go down. No malicious intent just one of those freak accidents. No foul was called on the play.

Cleared by the tribunal:

Canberra Capitals player Brigitte Ardossi was yesterday cleared of the charge of striking with an elbow Bulleen Boomers player Rachel Jarry by the WNBL Tribunal.

The charge arose from a collision between the two players during last Saturday night's Canberra v Bulleen game of the WNBL Pre Season Tournament, with Jarry suffering a concussion.

The Bulleen Boomers filed an official complaint regarding the incident on Monday, with the WNBL referring the matter to the Tribunal.

After analysing footage of the incident, alongside player and referee accounts, the Tribunal determined Ardossi was not guilty of the charge of striking with an elbow.

It was the view of the Tribunal there was no malice or intent on the part of Ardossi to injure Jarry in the incident.

The Tribunal decision means Ardossi is able to play in the Canberra Capitals season-opening WNBL game against the Sydney Uni Flames on Saturday October 6.

Looks like Ardossi is in hot water again
from the WNBL website:

Ardossi Suspended by Tradies Canberra Capitals

As a result of an incident that occurred in Friday nights WNBL Round 17 game The Tradies Canberra Capitals vs. Townsville Fire at the AIS Arena, Capitals Forward Brigitte Ardossi has been suspended by Basketball ACT for the remainder of the season.

During the 4th Quarter of the game, after contact was made between Rachel Flanagan of the Townsville Fire and Brigitte Ardossi in the mid court, Ardossi fell to the ground and attempted to trip Rachel Flanagan.

The Capitals management and coaching staff have reviewed in detail the contact and the circumstances leading up to and around the incident and have taken the action of suspending Brigitte from further play with the Tradies Canberra Capitals until the end of the season.

Basketball ACT has not taken this action lightly and after lengthy discussion and consultation with the coaching staff, leadership group and the player concerned, believe that internal disciplinary action is necessary and appropriate by the club. The Canberra Capitals do not condone this type of behaviour and have a long standing position of player conduct and true sportsmanship behaviour as being the pillars in which the club is built on. The Capitals have always been a club that installs a strong culture of quality of people, competitiveness and professionalism and the action and re-action by Ardossi goes against all of those ethoses.

Brigitte Ardossi has expressed remorse and regret for her actions and has taken the approach of writing to Rachael Flanagan to apologise.

The Capitals travel to Melbourne this weekend to take on the Bulleen Boomers and Bendigo Spirit in round 18 of the WNBL.
