When does new junior season 2012/13 start?

Does the new junior season start next week after grand finals or after school holidays in October?

BSA have messed up the start date as holidays are 1 week early.

They haven't messed up the start date at all. There are always nine rounds before Christmas, so that in a ten team comp, everyone playes every team once before the Xmas break. This usually works fine as the last school term is nine weeks long. This year the last term is ten weeks, so by starting a week later, there are still nine rounds before the Xmas break. It was either start late as they have done, or finish early before the school term is over.

Could easily not have games on the last weekend when 100plus kids are away at school nationals.

Or have 10 rounds before Christmas and therefore do the new program for pro/rel over the break rather than between a weeks games.

Ty[pical lack of vision or understanding.

stop whinging, if you dont like it go play another sport where you only get to play 5 months of the year and have to stand in the rain

Well said Reds - every year the last round is decimated by players missing due to schools nationals for both basketball and volleyball.
The common sense answer is to have this as the week games are not played. Of course, as it was the common sense answer it is not the one that was chosen.

Whilst they haven't messed up the start date, why not schedule more games before Christmas?

Why not have a week spare close to the holidays to minimise the anticipated lack of players around this period close to summer holidays, exams, schoolies, work functions which are common closer to Christmas and hot weather?

Every year we start the same week school goes back. Rather than look at the school schedule, it was simply a case of closest date to last yer.

How is that not a stuff up?

Why not wait till rule changes come in and they come in this year 1/10/12

why not wait till the u14s at m/vale are over

but MORE importantly why not give clubs and teams time to sort out their teams after all some teams are in grand finals this coming thursday, friday, saturday. why not give those kids a rest before new season begins. why not give the clubs a change to work out team grade movements.

Give parents, coaches, players a few weeks off after a heavy winter season.

but NO you arm chair critics have it all worked out, it works in your mind so it has to be wrong.

ffs some times you people creep me out

Both the accurate date and current date would be after 1/10. So your arguement there is wrong.

Both the accurate date and current date would be after 14 Nationals. So your argument there is wrong.

Clubs, Players, Coaches etc will have over 30 days between Grand Finals and the current start date and just under 30 days for the accurate one. Also not an issue.

If you're going to get involved in the conversation at least have some facts to back up your arguement.

Don't work for BSA never intend too but the crap that gets posted on here is beyond belief at times

club members vote for their management committees
BSA floats ideas past or consults Clubs on issues like starting seasons on particular dates. or like changing things like U23s. Some clubs don't bother answering some when asked a yes / no question develop a maybe answer.

Competitions committee is representive of most clubs not club appointments but people involved with basketball and do what is best for basketball

Commission oversee's that all, don't like the system take it back to your club. Go and see what your club voted for or have a say in before you bleat on here.

As a long time committee member of a district club this is how the system works.

NO club nor competition committee was consulted regarding the start date of the season.

So the season starts a week later, Big deal. Some people on here have nothing better to do thatn bag BSA. Get a life. I don't believe that those kids that are away for school champs really care about missing that round, and really who cares, it is summer season.

Probably the clubs and teams that have to forfiet and pay BSA for them scheduling games that could be avoided without consideration nor consultation.

LOL, WHat a load of crap. Rotate lower kids up and it solves the problem which most clubs do anyway.

Not allowed to move in Div 3 because of promotion/relegation. Over the top 3 teams had 14 players available for 3 games.
