Nicholls State was the school of Anatoly Bose, and currently has three Aussies on their roster, including;

Prest, Lachlan (SA)
McBeath, Sam (NSW)
Smith-Hyde, Linden (NSW)

No offense to Nicholls State but this wont even be a contest. Sixers will win this one by 30-50 if they try.

Nicholls State's tallest players are Prest and McBeath at 6'7.

It is great to see the Sixers play college teams but they could at least get a team out that will give them some competition.

I would prefer to see the Sixers go up against a much more competitive ABA All-Star team.

I'm old enough to remember when the reigning NCAA champs (Arizona) came out to play the 36ers in '97 I think it was.

Its a great idea, no matter how good or bad Nichols state are as it gives the 36ers new group a chance to play with each other, even trial/unearth a new import or 2 if they want to, plus the college team features a few aussies so a chance to keep an eye on them and see how they stack up against a NBL team as possible future pick ups.

yeah i remember when wildcats toured was a later date than that.

6ers will be rusty and ? at full strength.

Nicholls State have not played in an NCAA tournament recently at all.

The fact is that Nicholls State is an average team in a weak Southland Conference. Good training nonetheless for the 6ers and NSU Colonels.

Myself and a few mates will be in attendance, will be a good opportunity to see how they plan to use the twin towers, see if Creeky has developed more of an outside shot and the dynamic Cadee can bring to the team.

Will we have more players signed by this stage though??

At the moment we only have;

C - Schenscher
PF - DJ
SF - Weigh
SG - Creek
PG - Cadee/Crosswell

Yea, good point need a few players, i guess its also a good oportunity to trial a few Aussies for the remaining spots aswell.

At worst im sure they will have a few CABL ring ins to round out the roster, and again this just provides a opportunuty for our local talent to show the 36ers coaches what they can do.

Yes, last time Arizona came out they just played Sturt but the time before that when they were the current NCAA champs they played the 36ers at the Dome.

I remember Leon Trimmingham doing a massive dunk and some booster from Arizona handed out some NCAA champs t-shirts and my brother and I got ours signed by some of the guys like Mike Bibby etc.

What a complete waste of time.

Sixers will win by 50 and there will be no-one there due to ABA etc on at other local stadiums.

Once again, sixers showing a complete disengagement with the local basketball community.

While it is a shame that it is on the same night as the last round of State League, I would assume that NSU are touring Australia and have a strict schedual, meaning they are only in Adel that night.

Unfortunate, yes. But at least the guys get a run
together.

My main concern would be who is going to play? Luke S, DJ, Creek, Cadee, Weigh, Crossy?. Problem is you cant bring up any youngsters as they will be playing that night. At least that core group will have a good preseason hit out!

anon nice excuse.

How about playing the game in the afternoon so basketball fans can go to both?

How about playing the game in conjunction with South Adelaide's ABA fixutre that round, given the opposition includes a South junior?

I assume this also means Creek, Johnson, Daly? other 'squad members' will have to choose between their NBL career and local club?

As mentioned above, just another example of the Adelaide 36ers lack of real interest in working with the local basketball community.
