Dribbling above the shoulder

It's a violation, I'm told. Can anyone point me to the rule that outlines that pls? have looked through FIBA rules without finding anything.

Its not strictly a violation it depends on the situation. As per art 24.1.2 the dribble ends when the ball comes to rest, i.e the hand goes under the ball. If you can dribble above the shoulder with your hand on top of the ball that's fine.

If the ball bounces higher than expected and the player waits for it to come down and continues dribbling this also should be fine as the ball has not come to rest in either hand
