There's a european Training Centre run by the AIS in Northern Italy. That's what it was meant to be used for: a European training base. It's used more by the rowers and the cyclists.
The basketball program used it in the past but no longer.
Even the AFLAIS academy used it recently - to plsy the European All-Stars. The thing is, it costs to use. And Basketball Australia (in conjunction with the Sports Commission) hasn't got the money to use it.
I think people don't understand that the AIS program can be run however BA want it to be run...if they want to have it for their senior men's program in their off-seasons from professional leagues, they can. it doesn't have to be for juniors only.
it's a good idea. The facility in northern italy has eveything they have in canberra.
