I think Townsville is the one club that would be really disappointed with that. A successful year where they made finals and won most of their home games, yet a clear drop from the past three years' attendance.

Wollongong was slightly down but they were pretty bad so that is to be expected. Gold Coast averaging 3500 at the GCCEC is better than I thought, and while low isnt terrible in a 'city' known for its poor support of pro sports. They still need to improve how they promote the team though, particularly the basics.

The rest are pretty good, and hopefully Melbourne will take some games to Melbourne Park next year to capitalise on the increased demand this year.

HoldenV8- your order is correct, but in tems of %of stadium filled, the tigers with 3234 out of 3500 would be at the top.

Great work Holden V8. I don't have the 2011 seasons, but I believe the figure for 2009 and 2010 were:

2010 2009
ADL 4,715 4,666
PER 4,097 4,100
TOW 4,039 4,207
WOL 3,410 2,533
CAI 3,103 3,686
GCC 2,697 2,700
MEL 2,645 2,497
NZS 2,507 3,633
Sydney x 1,374
South x 5,031

townsville had 2 games, probably 3 that should have sold out (5164 btw) Legends game & 20yr anniversary, NYE and the finals game none of which came close really!

there is 1 obvious problem there and its in the front office

Julian, this is just the regular season attendances. And thanks everyone, your comments are very much appreciated.

Sydney, Adelaide and Cairns...what can you say there? The top 3 in average attendance didn't even make the finals while 2 of the finalists (Crocs & Blaze) are in the bottom 4 for avg attendances.....

Personally I think the biggest problem is the Gold Coast. When they can only draw 3,144 to a do-or-die Semi-final which is lower than their season average then they have serious issues in trying to draw a crowd.

My question was in regards to Jack Toft's figures.

sorry Julian, they were just the H&A games I think.

The big number was Sydney. Just 1,374 per game in 2009 to and average of 5,341 in 2012. Amazing jump, but then again Sydney has been given publicity, lots of One (sux) coverage.

Overall, its pleasing to see numbers on the rise. An average of nearly 5,000 to the 36ers can only be good.

Isn't the 1,374 per game from the Sydney Spirit? I know their crowds were an absolute joke when they played. Or was it the Kings... When did they get kicked out?

Regarding Gold Coasts crappy attendances - For obvious reasons I'm very glad Gold Coast are not in the grand final. I could not think of a team, city or fans that deserve a title less than the Blaze.

The Wildcats, playing in their 9th grand final and attempting to win a 6th championship still deserve it more than the Blaze do. Even if GC made the grand final I would be surprised if there would be enough interest in the team.

The Wildcats and Breakers work very hard to be successful on and off the court and it shows. Gold Coast don't seem to have that.

Sydney Kings weren't in the league for the 08/09 & 09/10 seasons.

From memory the Kings last year averaged 3400 in the regular season, jumping to 3700 after the playoffs.
