What's Hot/What's Not
What's Hot:
- Kevin Brook's coaching style, the cap is a coaching accessory that is pretty much endangered on the sideline, good to see it's addition to the ABL sidelines.
- And talking of KB, I like the way Woodville tries to dictate the pace, trying to push the ball on every possession and get the shots up unlike Sapwell's boring Norwood style, now if they can only shoot above 40%. Doing well with a team full of lesser talents in the Central ABL.
- Luke Mapunda, the guy actually played pretty well to my shock, with his passing much improved. A couple of good extra passes for 3s and one excellent pass from the post in the 1st and 2nd quarters. Played 30 minutes for 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists with no airballs to my horror.
- Hong Kong legend dvd range, all the classics being released
- Paul Bauer, would Sturt fans agree this is his best season for a long, long time? Hit some huge 3s, including a huge 3 in transition in the 4th. 18 points with 5/9 3PT, 6/11 FG and 1/2FT. 5 rebounds, 3 assists in 40 minutes.
- Oscar Forman for throwing down a flush on the break in the first and a blazing ally in the 4th. Oh yeah he also had 23 and 16 on 8/15 FG, 3/5 3PT and 4/4 FT in 42 minutes. Only 1 assist, I suggest the ball-hog learn to pass every now and then.
- Beat Takeshi's range on DVD, everyone must check out Hana-bi.
- The current Slam magazine, with Mike Dunlop, Rick Bruson and Andrew Bogut.
What's Not:
- Now I know clubs run on volunteers, and I am grateful for their work, but when did it become official club policy to let six years old girls to select the music to be played? Last week it was Delta Goodrem, this week it was Ashlee Simpson's "La La". Couldn't get any worse could it?
- The Woodville courtside announcer, the guy was actually pretty good all day, but I didn't like the fact that he made judgements of such subjective issues as player performances. If Andrew Puddifoot was "sensational" with 3/20 shooting I think nothing short of fatally wounding your teammates would qualify you for an average performance in this guys view.
- Oh wait a minute, they played Hilary Duff "Our lips are sealed".
- Brenton Higgins is right, the Dome is very dirty, (not quite as much as Hambour's mouth).
- Jessie "player hater" McCartney.
- Wait a minute, I think Simple Plan "Welcome to my life" was played just to increase the depression factor.
- By the way, once again mostly loved the guy's work, but having an announcer clearly releasing a "pfft" sound to a refs call is a bit of a shock (in the guys defence I don't think he meant to do it, just forgot to put the mic away from his mouth in general play).
- Guy Sebastion's "Out with my Baby." By this point my ears were bleeding.
- Todd Gower fouling out in 13 minutes with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 turnovers and 3 steals (with one big drive and dunk).
- Missy Higgins got played towards the end of the game, by this time I was just suicidal.
Find of the week:
- Find of the week returns for Gary Birmingham. Never heard of the player before but 20 points on 8/17 shooting, 4/8 3PT in 30 minutes while the rest of his team shoots 32% makes me remember his name. Woodville fans, what's his story?
Flop of the week:
- Andrew Puddifoot, 3/20 shooting for 11 points in 44 minutes. This guy stunk more than the Bolivar sewage plants.
Celebrity sightings
- Brad Newley, you know a real celeb unlike the usual losers I chuck on this list. Relative to Brad Newley no other 'celebrities' were present.
