Sturt vs Woodville
Wasn't at the game, but heard that Sturt won by 12. Anyone know more?

I had predicted Sturt to have an easy win but the end score does not tell the story. The game was close right up till the last 3 minutes with the lead continually changing up until then. Woodville got into foul trouble in the last few minutes which allowed Sturt to gain a good lead towards the end. Woodville played very well considering their size.

Received the boxscore, but it's not in HTML so I can't use it for the stats application. Oscar had 23 and 16, plus 4 blocks. Darren had 20, Potsie 18, Shepherd had 14 and 7 off the bench. Birmingham from Woodville had 20. Final score was 88-100. Other Warriors in double figures were Mapunda (12), Fuller (12), Wilson (15) and Puddifoot (11 and 12 double-double, plus 6 assists which was the game-high).
Gower had 23 HSA in only 13:36 before fouling out!
Sturt took 15 fewer shots but were more efficient (40% vs 33.7%). Boards fairly even, 60-59 to Sturt.
Next round, Warriors host South coming off a win, while Sturt head to Hillcrest.

women - sturt by 30 odd - 85 to 50 ish
woodville pushed sturt in first 1/4 - 20-18 scoreline
sturt missing their 2 centres - summerton and monique bowley shot poorly from inside the paint - woodville had planty of options - both in and out and kept pace with the sabres.
second quarter - sturt stepped up a gear and at one stage had scored 20 - 2
marino was in evrything and drew plenty of fouls
barrett keeping woodville right in touch - ran into foul trouble and warriors had noone else step up
last 2 quarters - sturt had ascendency - but the result was there - mediocre shooting % from both teams - woodville true to form there !
bridget bowley and marino seemed sturts best - hannah had plenty of touches
gates, barrett, gathercole woodvilles best - wells and tayla had moments
great effort from warrior rookie sharna breaverington - with a few points
men - great game - neck and neck - woodville really a chance for most of the game - neither team could break free - slick moves from both teams - and woodville may make the finals yet
oscar playing well and putting his hand up as an early meadl favourite
well attended - the announcer would not have been a warrior fan at all?
definite what is NOT hot - micheal jackson songs over the PA

I heard Marino died with the ball a lot on the drive. When I used to see her in juniors she was certainly doing that. Must be frustrating for her team mates if that is still the case. If she picks the fouls up that would help. What was her shooting percentage Isaac?

Marino: 6-22 (1-9 threes), 11-11 FT. 24 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 1 turnover, 3 steals, 2 fouls. 36:36.
Bowley girls enjoyed having Monique away as they combined for 39 points and 28 rebounds. Plus, 2-3 threes and 5-5 FT.
Gathercole had 19 for the Warriors.

Thanks Isaac. The field goals / drives % tend to support that she is taking some illadvised shots and perhaps nbot making the best of plenty of opportunities.
Shooting 33% overall for the season so this was just a bit below average.
I guess from Sturt's point of view they will be hoping she gets more for her time on court in the tight games.

around the traps,
Are you kidding? They've been in Adelaide for ages, Sharna's been playing at Woodville since 14's.
everytime marino went to turn the corner on the drive, she would find the floor
if there was a warrior girl within a 5 km radius, instant foul, thanks to the rookie ref who couldnt see her blatant theatrics.

Must be only two of us in SA who can see what's happening Anonymous. It's a shame she's such a good foul shooter.
oscar got this ridiculous alley oop, bad pass, he jumped up, caught it from about a foot under the rim and dunked it 2 handed, awesome.

Marino has had that same theatrics ever since she was a young junior and she is a great player, both very clever physically and mentally, so other guards need to recognise that and play that to their advantage. Instead of complaining, use her dramatics against her. Be proactive.

if you drop step early on marino - you should face her on when she drives, forming a fairly legal defensive stance - if you are going to foul her do it whilst the ball is bouncing - as she will throw a shot after contact with a defender and go to the line
the reason she always gets shots is she draws contact after the dribble has ceased and pitches a shot up
you also need good help defense on her
hey - don't knock her she has succeeded at international level and got a potential invite to the wnba - that sffort in greece was excellent for nz
